Watch a video or visit a forum and your quickly greeted by angry people who hate when you use common sense.
For example, I've seen videos of trek fans with like 100,000 subscribers making pointless videos such as "how many times did Janeway drink coffee" or "how many times did picard drink tea" and you get these people claiming things "well we only see Janeway drink coffee 20 or so times throughout voyager so this means and proves Janeway wasn't a coffee addict"
They literally get angry if you give them the common sense answer such as "well we don't see Janeway drink coffee every episode but someone who claims they won't even speak in the morning unless they drink their coffee first and based on our understanding that people on earth drink coffee daily, it's safe to say Janeway drank coffee every day sometimes two or three times a day and not just the 20 or so times because that's how many times the series showed her drinking coffee"
Here's what's annoying. They use episodes to rationalize things like things instead of use common sense and understand its a fictional show and the writers just write whatever. They don't understand simple common sense and fail so hard when trying to justify answers directly from the show.
I see them trying to rationalize how the fighting we see makes sense or that the double fist punch is better and all the fighting in the show with 5 second knockouts make sense and it's not just the writers using plot to advance the story.. The worst part is all the replies or comments agreeing with the videos as if it's correct when it's not.
They even say "well in tos we don't know what 'tape' means it could be something more advanced" and everyone agrees but no one will even think to say "look in the 60e that's the furthest public technology was and the writers just the thought tapes would be used in the future as well". When this sort of reply is made they all get so irate and hate common sense because if they realize it's just a show and the writers didn't even think about what tye fans claim they get so madly upset it's ridiculous.
Why are trekkies like this?
