News Henry Cavill Might Be Working on A Mass Effect Project

But that’s the beauty of video games. They can have the bittersweet ending for those who want that and they can have the happy ending for those who want that.
Think of Mass Effect 2 and the suicide mission. Despite its name, it’s possible for everyone to live. Or you can have everyone but Joker die. 3 should have allowed for as much variation.
ME2 still ended with a "oh btw we're still fucked" stinger, regardless of who lived or died. Hardly all puppies and rainbows.

And I maintain that High EMS Destroy *is* a happy ending. You don't win a victory on that scale with at least some major sacrifices, or else it'd feel unearned.

Another possibility occurred to me, some games have done live actions trailers from time to time, so maybe that's what this is, and then he'll also go on to do voice mo-cap for the next game.
I had assumed the hair and/or make up he appears to be getting was for the ME project, but there's always a chance that's for something else, and the ME reading is prep for something he's doing later.

Yes they have.......... This is my favourite live action trailer

I wish Mass Effect would have gotten this kind of love

Generic happy ending?

Why try to re-invent the wheel? The series was largely pretty generic, taking tons of elements from other shows, it felt like a Babylon 5 game for most of it. The game promised us actions having consequences, then we get to the end and it means nothing. The amount of people you got on your side? Pointless. There should have been tons of different endings and many of them should have involved an ending to the reapers.

I would like if the TV production can get access to the CG Model assets from BioWare/Edge of Reality/Demiurge Studios/Straight Right/Electronic Arts. Any in-game location the TV show is set in already has CG Models. I really mean the Architectural 3D Models more so than the aliens/objects. The show could be shot as a virtual production ala The Mandalorian. As long as textures can be redone in 4k the virtual sets are already there and just need textured and lighting in the engine.

How about if the next Mass Effect were done in VR like Half-Life: Alyx and the assets for the TV series were also used to create the game. Imagine being able to walk around inside the world of the TV series and the game in locations you have watched cutscenes and spent hours in before. .

Do you have ANY idea how low poly the meshes are for background assets in a decade old video game, never mind the texture resolution? No where even close to be able to hold up against live action footage, let me tell you.
Any live action project, whether it utilises a volume, green screen, or physical sets would have to create all new assets from scratch.

As for making a VR tie-in; again, you can't just swap between VFX grade assets and video game assets, because good luck rendering the former in real time on even the most powerful VR rig without it melting into a pile of slag. Everything would have to be rebuilt from the ground up and suited for purpose.

ETA: Incidentally, in an article that's mostly about 'The Wheel of Time' debut, Deadline are reporting that Amazon are close to a deal to make a Mass Effect series.
