Power Rangers is apparently returning to Disney

Technically Hasbro still owns it, but they've subcontracted the show out to Disney, same as they subcontracted the toys out to a different company.

Is Hasbro slowly becoming a IP holder company & doesn't want to actually make anything in-house anymore?

Short answer. Yes.

Today, a report announced that Hasbro will no longer be putting money down on popular movie IPs to which they currently hold the rights. This news comes after a string of flops at the theaters, including this year’s Transformers One animated movie, despite its praise from fans and critics. Hasbro currently holds the rights to IPs like Transformers, Power Rangers, G.I. Joe, and the Micronaughts.

Source is bloomberg but that's behind a paywall

It's a weird misspelling to happen by accident -- why would anyone think it was "-naughts," rather than the riff on astronaut/aeronaut/etc. that it obviously was? It feels like an insulting nickname someone might apply to them.

I had a number of Micronauts action figures and playsets when I was a kid, and I still have a couple of Time Traveler figures, only one of which is intact. (I sometimes use them to choreograph fight scenes in my fiction.) I never got into reading the comics, though, since I wasn't much of a comics reader as a kid. I was vaguely aware of the comics, but puzzled that their characters seemed to bear little to no resemblance to my action figures. I created my own version of the characters and worldbuilding when I played with the toys. My Micronauts were robots created by an inventor named Dorgon, and a dozen or so years later when Power Rangers came along and introduced Zordon, I was struck by the coincidental similarity. I think maybe Dorgon was lost in time and the Micronauts were searching for him, hence "Time Traveler." But it's been so long that I hardly remember.

They gave it to the writer of the Percy Jackson TV series. If it's going to be a combination of Percy Jackson and superhero movies, this will definitely work. But Marvel's team movies would be a medium-budget carpet. From there, it was a spin-off series. It will continue with Disney Plus movies.

They did a good job with the Percy Jackson series, so they might be a good choice. Do we know if this will be 100% American with no connection to Super Sentai?

As far as I understand, Hasbro will work with Paramount on the film side and Disney on the TV show side. It's probably a situation like the Lord of Rings film license being with Warner Bros and the TV series license being with Amazon. The only thing that's different about The Lord of Rings is that they'll probably do it with a budget of 80-100 million dollars. If these projects come true and are successful, neither Paramount will make a few movies and abandon the series nor Disney will make a TV series and abandon it and produce a few TV series.

In the article it mentions Toei and Saban will not be involved in the new series

Likewise, Toei and Saban are not involved in the live-action remake of Power Rangers, currently in the works at Disney+, as Hasbro acquired international rights excluding Asia to the franchise in 2018.

So what I understood from the article, Toei wants to expand Super Sentai and Power Rangers at the same time (and Kamen Rider), while not being involved on the Disney+ series

I wonder if there will be any licensing issues.

I hope this means more KR and SS seasons officially released/subbed on video and streaming. Ideally, I'd like simulcasts of new episodes like Ultraman has on its YouTube channel.

More KR officially released here in the West would be lovely.

Sentai as well, but the obstacle there has never been Toei but rather Hasbro and their stubborn refusal to allow it. Don't see that changing anytime soon, as much as I wish it would.
