Ghosts of Girlfriends Past trailer (McConaughey, Garner, Douglas)

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

So will it be another dumb Matthew McConaughey comedy? There's no Kate Hudson this time so at least it can't be another dumb Kate Hudson comedy. Or does Jennifer Garner and Michael Douglas mean there's something more going on with this movie?

Just because Jennifer Garner's in it, doesn't mean it won't be the same old mass produced romcom rubbish. She's done it before.

Was Kate Hudson one of the guide ghosts? The floaty diaphanous one whose face was all blurry so it could be a big surprise when people go to see it and realize she and Matthew are in another movie together? Part might be so small she didn't bother getting credited, too.

I already promised a friend I'd see it because she worked on it. I do have to admit I laughed at the wedding cake part though. :)

This looks surprising watchable.

I always try to pick a palatable chick flick that I can go see with my wife. That should get me off the hook for a while.

That guy needs a better agent or something. He is rarely in any movie I can even close to stomach watching. And judging from that wretched trailer, his losing streak continues.

And he really can do smart comedy. Loved him in Tropic Thunder, and he had a lot of competition...

Well his movies make a lot of money, no matter how stupid they are (see: Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell). So if that's the bottom line -- if his movies make money, he makes money -- his agent is doing a good job.

The thing is, he's a good actor who's just slumming it with these stupid comedies. Could you imagine Tom Cruise turning down Valkyrie to do Yes Man instead? Or Daniel Craig turning down Casino Royale to make The Santa Clause 3?

The trailer is on Apple.com now, and the future ghost isn't Kate Hudson.

Can Matthew McC. only play "himself" in movies?

I mean, I kind of like him but the schtick is getting old.

Jennifer Gardner? Love her.

Romantic Comedies/Chick Flicks? Not so much.

Looks cute, but far too saccharine for me.
