Geordi in 'Genesis'

Moses455

Cadet
Newbie
In the episode 'Genesis', I was always astonished by the transformations of the crew, as they begin to de-evolve. Riker, O'gawa (don't know hot to spell it), Barclay, Worf, Troi and Picard all show clear symptoms of beginning to de-evolve. Crusher doesn't, presumably because she was burned on the face with acid, before she could show any symptoms.

One person troubled me...Geordi. In the final scene with Riker, O'gawa and Barclay, they are all de-evolving. Gerodi walks in and he appears completely normal. There are no signs of any de-evolving at all. Obviously he must have done, otherwise Data and Picard would have found him, but my question is:

Does he show signs of de-evolving and it is just more subtle, or was a part simply not written for him??

Great episode, btw.

This was a lousy episode with terrible "science" in it- written by Braga.

Not a lick of this episode makes sense.

I can't agree this is a lousy episode, but I assume you are just claiming that it was so badly thought out, Geordi didn't even get a role?

was this before or after Geordie turned into that three toed glow in the dark monster?

Season seven ranked 5th onhere, must have been alot of other bad episodes in season 7:lol:

It wasn't a great episode thats for sure but its not the worst.

The worst, by leaps and bounds, is "Shades of Gray."

Because as bas as episodes like "Dark Page", "Genesis", "Haven", "Sub Rosa" and many others are, none of them were a friggin' CLIP SHOW!!!

sure, the science was bad but it was a good 'creepy' episode. its a guilty pleasure for me. you could call it the 'Spock's Brain' of TNG. its so bad its kinda good.

agreed.

Barclay before he became a spider is hilarious! (Dwight's good at that kind of acting, similar to his A-Team days) It's like he did a bunch of coke.

I watched that ep a few nights ago. I thought it was really stuped that they turned Spot into a lizard. I didn't think that cats and lizards were related. Why not turn her into a sabertooth or something .Plus if I was de-evolving into anything I'd throw myself in front of a bus. Gross

Well, humans and spiders aren't that much related either, which is part of what is so dumb about the episode. It reeks of just "turning the crew into animals." It would've been a bit more interesting an episode had the bulk of the crew changed to "cavemen" but the idea that crusher could load up the wrong chemical in a hypospray and activate recesive genes in people and have them turn into animals is dumb.

I did love Riker as a caveman though. Too bad he wasn't like the cavemen in the Geico commercials. As bad as this episode was, that would have been great.

I just saved a bunch of money on my starship insurance by switching to Geico...wheee!

:guffaw:Yeah, Riker as Alley-Oop was cool. I also liked the prehistoric armadillo/dinosaur thingy Worf reverted into. That was interesting! And Barclay as a half-spider was creepy. But the ep itself is kind of silly. -- RR
