Futurama: Season 6 details (Spoilers)

I neither expect nor require anything approaching traditional continuity from Futurama.

It's just a funny cartoon, as long as they don't get rid of the central characters or radically change them it really doesn't matter what they do regarding respecting continuity.

I'm bumping this thread to get fans excited. I saw a commercial on Adult Swim last night reporting the first new episode will be in June. I forget which day, but IMDB shows June 24th!

We're so close! Sweet zombie jesus!

The commercial could also kind of spoiler-ish.

Yeah I have never seen the last movie, but I know how it ends. CC needs to show it again.

CC ad did not have a date, it just said June 2010.

So 2 months baby!

I wasn't around for this thread, but after reading through most of it, I'm a little surprised that so many disliked the movies. I really didn't notice much of a drop off from the series to the movies myself. Oh well.

They were scaring me last year with all that talk about not having the original voice actors. Yikes. But yeah, I can't wait. Fox was super ghey for ever having canceled it in the first place. I hope CC gets ratings through the roof, and we get many seasons!

Vocal minority. The movies had fairly positive critical and fan reactions.

I don't agree with that, a lot of people don't like the movies. I don't like the first one, that bad guy was horrible, the 2nd and 3rd had good starts, but fell apart. The show can't be 88 minutes, it just doesn't work.

I'm gonna go ahead and say I don't care what they do regarding continuity with the movies. I want to watch "Futurama", damn it, and that's it.

I don't agree with that, a lot of people don't like the movies.

A lot of people posting online don't like the movies, but that's a tiny sample size compared to the overall audience, and those who dislike something are usually more likely to comment about it than those who liked it. So the Internet tends to give a disproportionate view of how widespread the dislike for a thing is.

Agreed. I don't think Futurama would be back if everyone didn't like the movies.

"A lot of people" can still be a minority.

According to the thousands of votes per movie on Rotten Tomatoes:
BBS: 90% (Only two less than what the RT community gave "Star Trek")
BWBB: 86%
BG: 82%
IWGY: 87%

Even the weakest of the movies was apparently disliked by a mere 18% of the RT Community. A minority. And given that their opinions are expressed vociferously enough to falsely convince Joeman and others that their opinions are shared by the majority, I'd say they are a vocal minority. QED.

Sweet! Another Anthology of Interest! However, I'm a bit bummed about the prospect of the Fry/Leela relationship be reset/ignored. I really want to see it developed.

Same here. Well, I might check it out but I'm not sure if I will watch season 6 regularly.

Whyever not? Ok, if they reset the Fry and Leela thing it'll be kind of cheap, but the show is still going to be funny!

That is how I would rate them as well.

Instead of saying that I was surprised "so many" disliked the movies, I should have said that I was surprised "so many here" disliked the movies. I really only direct my comments towards the people posting here, in this forum.

I had already assumed that most people in general didn't dislike the movies. If that were the case, then they would not have kept making them, and the series would have been less likely to be revived. ;)

I guess that my main point was that I'm surprised that people who really loved the show, really disliked the movies. I was so thrilled to get the movies after I thought the show was long dead and gone, that I bought the hell out of every one of them as soon as they came out, and really enjoyed them. I can't say that every movie kept up the great comedic pace that a 22 minute episode did, but I was kind of expecting that.

The sci fi landscape on TV is pretty bleak. Futurama can't return soon enough. I forget - is there an eta and if so when?

I enjoyed the movies.

I wish all my favorite shows were this hard to kill. :rommie:

I await eagerly for the exciting return of Futurama, and the raging fan war in it's aftermath :)
