The Fox network in the US is putting an original spin on the single-gals-in-the-city genre with a new show in development about four New York women who are best friends and werewolves.

The network has put in an order for a script, going by the title Bitches, from big screen scribe Michael Dougherty (X2, Superman Returns), who is developing the project via Warner Bros Television.

Pushing Daisies and Women’s Murder Club writing duo Gretchen J Berg and Aaron Harberts will executive produce Bitches if it is ordered to series.

The show is spun-off from one of the four interwoven stories that make up the plot of Dougherty’s horror feature Trick ‘r Treat, which was released on Halloween this year. However, Bitches is being described a drama-comedy about the perils of dating when the change into a werewolf is sparked by feelings of arousal.
I would love to know which part of "about four New York women who are best friends and werewolves." made them think this show would be a hit.

I know networks like to cast a wide net when it comes to possible new shows (and that is a good thing), but I cant help but feel this time the net was cast too far.

Somehow I don't see "Bitches" being the final title (and if it is, I'll be very impressed). My money is on this being renamed "Vixens".

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Looks more like they put too many weights on the net and it sank instantly.
if we are going to continue with deep sea fishing metaphor, maybe I take it to its logical conclusion and suggest a TV series based on the 1984, Tom Hanks & Daryl Hannah film "Splash"

it will go like this

The Fox network in the US is putting an original spin on the single-gals-in-the-city genre with a new show in development about four New York women who are best friends and mermaids.
The network has put in an order for a script, going by the title Fishes, from big screen scribe wamdue (various YouTube videos), who is developing the project via Wamdue Television.

The show is spun-off from the 1984 movie "Splash" that started Tom Hanks & Daryl, however neither is expected to appear in the show.

Fishes is being described a drama-comedy about the perils of dating when getting wet, causes your legs to turn into a fish like tail.

So far Alyssa Milano has expressed an interest in appearing in the series as one of the "fishes" but is not currently attached to the project.

scary how easy that was

I dunno, it sounds pretty humorous to me. Especially with a Pushing Daisies writer involved. Hell, the Pushing Daisies episode with the same title was pretty damn fantastic, too.

Michael Dougherty is an intelligent writer, I'll wait to see what this looks like before scoffing.

Who knows. Everybody laughed when Joss Whedon made a tv series about a terrible movie which revolved around a cheeleader with a silly name killing vampires.

Why does this seem like a good idea? Go to a bookstore. Chick-lit and romance novels about werewolves are huge now. There are dozens published every year. Don't look in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section. Look in the romance section. Trust me, you'll find plenty of breezy novels about hip, sexy female werewolves, succubi, and vampires.

Somebody obviously wants to see if this sub-genre will translate to tv. Who knows? Probably worth a shot . . .

I think this idea has a lot of potential personally, especially as a satire of shows like Desperate Housewives and SATC.
