Formula One Season 2009!

Two huge whammies in as little as 12 hours. First BMW announce their departure, now The False Stig is set to return to F1! :p

Schumacher. Alonso. Raikkonen. Hamilton. With the first half of the season dominated by Brawn and Red Bull, and now these four World Champions in the mix and, based on recent form, in potentially race-winning cars, the second half is definitely mouth-watering.

Indeed, the second half is going to be epic!:techman: And I also agree with Saul, Schumacher's arrival will give Kimi the kick up the backside he has been needing since he won the WDC.;)

And with BMW pulling the plug, we now have Kubica & Heidfeld hunting for a 2010 drive. That should add extra spice to the mid-field, with those two pulling no punches to impress team bosses, and other drivers fighting to stay on the grid!
BTW. My money is on Kubica taking Kovalainen's McLaren seat, and Quick Nick getting another year, with one of the new teams.:shifty:
BRG

Heidfeld to take Alonso's seat at Renault, while Fernando is red-bound? ;)
And out comes Piquet Jr, in comes B. Senna, Esq.? :D

If there had been a Canadian GP this year, I would have just spent my last dollar on a ticket. Must dig that #1 Ferrari cap out.

Williams blocks Michael Schumacher from testing 2009 car.

Red Bull's team principle Christian Horner said on Monday the 40-year-old Schumacher should not be treated any differently to Spanish teenager Jaime Alguersuari who made his F1 debut for Toro Rosso in Hungary last month despite previously only having driven the car in a straight line speed test.

"Jamie Alguersuari had never sat in a Formula One car before his first race last weekend in Hungry. I am sure that Michael Schumacher who is a seven times world champion and has won 91 races won't have a problem getting up to speed," he said.

Red Bull teams join in

I'm not really going to miss NPJ. He never really set F1 alight (well, maybe literally) but then again he was always going to pale in significance to Fernando Alonso.

Looks like it may well be Romaine Grosjean who will replace him for now.

The title of Rookie of the Year is finally hotting up. :p WIll still probbaly go to Sébastien Buemi, though.

Well, Renault's appeal pending, at least the Valencia crowd will have someone to cheer. :p

So much for that idea:

Seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher has abandoned his comeback with Ferrari because of a neck injury.

The 40-year-old, who retired at the end of 2006, was set to deputise for the injured Felipe Massa at the European Grand Prix in Valencia on 23 August.

"Unfortunately we did not manage to get a grip on the pain in the neck which occurred after the private F1-day in Mugello," Schumacher told his website.

Veteran Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer will now stand in for Massa.
Schumacher aggravated a neck injury he originally suffered in a bike accident in February whilst trying out a 2007 F1 car as he set about making his comeback.

But the 40-year-old German revealed: "The consequences of the injuries caused by the bike accident, fractures in the area of head and neck, unfortunately have turned out to be still too severe.

"That is why my neck cannot stand the extreme stresses caused by F1 yet. These are the clear results of the examinations we did on the course of the past two weeks and the final examination on Monday afternoon.

"As there were no improvements after the day in Mugello, I decided at short notice on Sunday to do that thorough examination on Monday."
Looks like the long-awaited Schumacher-Hamilton meet-up will have to wait again.

HA! I'm glad. He's had his day. I was glad when he retired, and I'm glad he's not returning. Why? I just don't like him. Never did!

That's only a problem if you want Ferrari to win....:D

Having said that, it could be bad if he causes an accident due to being a bit rusty.

Yeah but they're putting Luca Badoer in, he hasn't raced in 10 years.
Sure, but at least he's a current test driver.

It can't be worse than Alguersuari last time around.

(Yeah, I looked his name up :D)

Doesn't really matter that Algusrsuari didn't have experience in an F1 car before his debut, what matters is Alguersuari has competitive experience, Badoer hasn't raced in ten years. Doesn't matter that he is Ferrari's test driver, he doesn't have any up-to-date experience as a racing driver.

There must be plenty of just retired drivers who would be happy to play with a Ferrari F1.

If he does go to Ferrari, he'll want the "Number 1 driver, everything revolves around me" deal that he wanted (and didn't get. HA!) at McClaren. I can see Raikkonen leaving to make way for him, as he really doesn't give a crap these days. So that leaves Massa, who still has a long career ahead of him when he's recovered and back up to speed. Massa has been a good team player for Ferrari, and I don't think he'd take too kindly to being told that he's Alonso's wingman....

Interesting!
