Formula One 2011

I think Hamilton is unhappy with himself. His head has been all over the place this year, and I don't think it has anything to do with being at McLaren.

Hamilion is under contract for 2012 with McLaren, the real question is about the 2013 season. As Webber is only under contract for 2012 at Red Bull.

I still think Hamiltion should stay at McLaren in 2013 and beyond. Given the history of the sport one team tends to dominate at any one time. early 90's Williams, mid 90's McLaren, 00's Ferrari 2010's Red Bull. Sooner or later the balance will tip away from Red Bull

^ Hmm yes it will have to slip away from them eventually, mind you, if Vettel had been racing like Webber this season, both Championships would not be over right now. Let's remember that Webber isn't even second or third in the Championship. The car is good, but Vettel is what has driven them to such a huge success this year.

As long as they retain Vettel, they are going to be a serious threat even if the performance of the cars balances out.

You could also argue that if Hamiliton hadn't made so many errors i.e. Canada, Belgium. It would have been closer

I think he would have been ahead of Jenson, he appeared to have the faster car than Jenson at Canada a race which Jenson won.

Of course his team has erred at least twice this year in qualifying. Most notable at Monaco and Japan.

I really like this track in India. The elevation changes are pretty sweet and it seems like there is a nice balance between turns and straightaways. I think it might become one of my favorites after they get the dust off of the track. I'm really looking forward to this weekends race after watching P2 just now.

massa crash was a good one, that curb sticks out like a score thumb, some of the other drivers compalin about the curbs as well.wonder if vettel will move over and give his teammate a win or because he likes his stats he wants to be the winner of the 1st indian f1?.

I wouldn't have believed Lewis Hamilton could be so completely dejected if I hadn't witnessed it myself. He's been a whiny kid recently but my heart went out to him yesterday.

In other news, Paul Di Resta's a wee honey.

Hopefully Lewis will come back next year in the right frame of mind.

I see from reports that Massa is wondering why he got the penalty. It might be down to the fact that Hamilton had to come into the pits for a new nose. Just as Hamilton got a drive thru in Singapore for causing you to come in for a new set of tyres.

But perhaps all these incidents are saying that regulations need to be passed to increase the size of the side mirrors.

Some expert analysis on the Massa-Hamilton crash:

Massa got the penalty because he clearly looked over at Hamilton twice before he drove in front of him. He calculated that Hammy would brake to get out of the way but he miscalculated since he had no time to do anything and nowhere to go.

Meanwhile, this is what the BBC will be offering next year, live:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/15893254.stm

LIVE RACES ON THE BBC

15 April: China
13 May: Spain
27 May: Monaco
24 June: Europe
8 July: Britain
2 September: Belgium
23 September: Singapore
14 October: Korea
4 November: Abu Dhabi
25 November: Brazil

A couple of notable omissions there - particularly the first two races of the season in Australia and Malaysia.

Furthermore:

Of the other 10, there will be extended highlights programmes on BBC One, of either 90-minute or two-hour duration depending on race location.

Races in the Far Eastern time zone will have highlights broadcast on BBC One at 1400, with those in the European time zone getting 90 minutes at 1730.

I don't think there was a single person in Brazil who begrudged Webber getting that win.

It's just a shame he didn't win in a straight head to head, and he said as much himself.

In other news Mark Webber is a bit of alright.

Regarding the Sky/BBC split: I doubt it'll sell many more Sky subs. I predict the subscription companies are going to gradually lose members over this decade. People buy for a year and then drop it because they don't have enough money for not much more than they're getting on freesat.

This is pretty good news for those who already have Sky HD but don't want to waste £240/year on Sky Sports (which from what I've seen represents a fairly large number of the people who were considering RTL+R5L, including myself).

I don't think F1 will sell any new subscriptions, but this move will probably at least improve what were most likely going to be dismal viewing figures, and sell a few HD upgrades.

Think about it. Few people would've been willing to watch F1 on Sky if they had to pay for all the sports channels to get it.
