Below is a list of my five favorite episodes from Season One of "STAR TREK VOYAGER". Created by Rick Berman, Michael Piller and Jeri Taylor; the series starred Kate Mulgrew as Captain Kathryn Janeway:

FIVE FAVORITE EPISODES OF "STAR TREK VOYAGER" SEASON ONE (1995)

1. (1.11) "State of Flux" - Captain Kathryn Janeway and other senior members of Voyager's crew Janeway attempt to flush out a spy who is sending information to a group of aggressive Delta Quadrant species called the Kazon-Nistrim.

2. (1.14) "Faces" - When Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres, Lieutenant Tom Paris and Ensign Pete Durst are captured by Vidiians during an Away mission, Torres is split into her human and Klingon halves in order for her captors to use her DNA to find a cure for their species.

3. (1.01-1.02) "Caretaker" - While searching for a Maquis ship with a Starfleet spy aboard in the series premiere, the U.S.S. Voyager is swept into the Delta Quadrant, more than 70,000 light-years from home, by an incredibly powerful being known as the "Caretaker".

4. (1.04) "Time and Again" - While investigating a planet just devastated by a polaric explosion, Janeway and Paris are engulfed by a subspace fracture and transported in time to before the accident.

5. (1.07) "Eye of the Needle" - Voyager's crew discover a micro-wormhole leads to the Alpha Quadrant and makes contact with a Romulan ship on the other side with ironic consequences.

Good choices. I consider the Season One holdovers that aired during Season 2 to be part of the first season so I'd put "The 37's" in place of "Time and Again".

Yeah, really good choices!
I also enjoyed "Parallax" and "Jetrel" very much. :)

My season 1 favorites are:

1. Caretaker

2. Projections

3. Time And Again

4. Jetrel

5. Ex Post Facto

It's difficult to set up an order ... I guess mine would be:
1. Caretaker
2. Prime Factors
3. Eye of the Needle
4. (everything else except Emanations)
5. Emanations

I'm cheating and including the episodes that were written and filmed to be part of Season 1 but broadcast as part of Season 2.

In no particular order:
The 37s
Caretaker
The Cloud
Elogium
Twisted

1. Eye of the Needle - the first will-the-crew-get-home episode.
2. Phage - the Vidiians were one of the best new races the show came up with, and I tend to like episodes where Neelix is tolerable.
3. State of Flux - I loved the Seska reveal at the end, and she remained a favourite until her death. I realise the ship should have been moving away from Kazon space, but I wish things had worked out differently somehow to keep her around.
4. Jetrel - a very good episode getting to the heart of what happened to the Talaxians. I think James Sloyan is excellent, but he was in all of his Trek appearances.
5. Faces - more Vidiian fun, with B'Elanna being split into two.

Caretaker-because that's where it all began.
The Cloud-Because I like ensemble episodes. We got a hint of what the Doctor was going to become.
Phage-Different kind of bad guy.
Jetrel-Background on the Talaxians. First time Neelix isn't annoying.
Faces-One of a handful of Torres episodes that I like. Shows the basis for her internal conflicts and a glimpse of the chemistry with Paris.

All good choices! I'm glad “Jetrel” is getting so much love. It's definitely one of the best episodes of the show and often overlooked. My Top Five would look something like this:

1. “Eye of the Needle”
I always felt this episode had a great structure and some nice twists and turns.

2. “Jetrel”
I love how this episode gives so much depth to Neelix character, who deep down isn't all that happy-go-lucky as his demeanor might imply. James Sloyan as Jetrel is also a surprisingly multifaceted character.

3. “Parallax”
People often complain that the show abandoned its concept after the pilot, but “Parallax” is a realistic view at how those two crews start to work together. I love bull-headed B'Elanna in this one.

4. “Caretaker”
Still one of the best pilot episodes I have ever seen. Loved all the ideas, new designs and characters.

5. “Projections”
Some good old weirdness by Brannon Braga. These kind of episodes (like TNG's “Frame of Mind” or ENT's “Vanishing Point”) were definitely his strong suit.

All in all the first season of Voyager is pretty strong. The show almost had a completely different feel compared to the later seasons. The premise plays a much larger role and there are some nice threads throughout the whole season.

Here's my list in no particular order

State of Flux
37's
Eye of the Needle
Time and Again
Prime Factors

1) Caretaker (1x01), well, just because this episode marked the beginning of a journey which ran 7 years! :)
2) Time and again (1x04): for the pairing Janeway/Paris which had some potential IMHO, well before Torres arrived in the game, of course! :adore:

3) Jetrel (-> one of rare moments where we had got an emotional Neelix talking about his planet (very touching)
4) Prime Factors with Janeway summoning Tuvok for what she took as a his betrayal

ex-aequo with
Parallax for B'Elena Torres and Janeway bonding on a scientific theory.

5) Phage (1x05) -> Janeway being pissed with Viidians* .... and Neelix "regretting" that the Doctor doesn't kiss him! :guffaw:
