That was a technique I just stumbled on last night as I was coloring the piece. Instead of making the windows a simple and boring white, I wanted to add a little soupcon of color, so drawing the swath of yellow first, then drawing the window frames afterwards seemed the way to go without having to spend a shitload of time blocking out and coloring each window. The way you've coloured the windows on the underside of the saucer (and, to a lesser extent, the neck) is really effective. It looks like you've swiped the yellow marker over the white window gaps to give a soft sort of spill light on the hull between them (except on the right where it appears that the windows were done individually - or at least two at a time)? I'll have to try and remember that technique if I ever get around to drawing a starship!
Very, very cool and a noble purpose!I mentioned our god-daughters are super-talented artists. One of them picked up a part-time job for the local museum to create replicas of Native American bead & leather artwork so the real artifacts can be return the the rightful owners in the tribes.
Just realized I'd forgotten to post this minor edit to drawing #604 I did the other day to correct the saturation and contrast from the photo I took of the piece. I think I kinda like this version a little better:Drawing 604 / 2025 Artwork 6: EVA-Trek season 2 preview - USS Nerv charges into battle.
