Final Cut Pro X due out next week?

Most of those are workarounds, something which shouldn't be needed.

Others are just stupid responses:

Complaint: No Reconnect command when media is offline. When media is offline, you get a red screen with an exclamation point. There is no Reconnect Media command, as there used to be.

Answer: True. Then again, the old Reconnect dialog box got people into a lot of trouble; they often reconnected a project to the wrong files, or the wrong versions of files.
What kind of answer is that? I've never had an issue with the reconnect media, and I can hazard a guess that no 'professional' has either!

I have unfortunately submitted to Apple for a refund. I could not even edit while background rendering is happening without my system crashing.

I have always been an ardent supporter of Apple...but this is one terrible program. Outside of it crashing and not functioning as advertised, I just...really don't like it.

Back to FCE for me.

:(

Good luck with the refund. Hopefully if enough people do it they'll realise it's a pile of Vista and change things.

I have had no problems with it crashing. I'm running it on a Mac Pro and I have had zero issues. The background rendering has been flawless so far. I have edited a few more projects on FCPX and have decided that I will use FCPX for simpler, straight forward projects and continue to use FC7 for everything else.

I got an offer from Video Guys to cross grade to Avid 5.5 for $995, I may seriously consider this. I have used Avid a few times, mostly in suite setups. Have to think about this.

I'm an editor at a mid level marketing firm here in Seattle and we recently maybe like a year and a half ago upgraded from FCP 5 to FCP 7 and a few months ago setup FCP Server, so I doubt we'll be transitioning again to X until some of the kinks are worked out and hopefully some of the features return. I havent really dabbled with it myself, but from the looks of it looks very consumer level much akin to iMovie. Which brings me to ask, is there a bit of a learning curve on the new interface? How is the Motion integration? Although I don't use Motion since I've got After Effects. Does the Apple Store have any machines with it installed, maybe I'll play with it there.

Well, as much as I'm disappointed with the program and supremely annoyed, I still have to give Apple a little credit...because they refunded my money.

I haven't tried opening FCPX yet, as I'm working on a project in FCE right now, but I assume it's disabled in some way.

From me sending an email to a response was about 10 hours. No fuss, no muss...email just said purchase price is refunded and they're sorry I was not satisfied.
