FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 DRAW

OK, well I double checked a map, and there's physically no way it could be considered part of the peninsula, let alone culturally. Even Slovenia, for the most part, falls outside it.
 
So we got England, USA, and Algeria in our group. Could be better, but it also could be much much worse.
 
Might as well give Italy Group F and Spain Group H right now.

If the Ivory Coast is as good as everyone is saying, Group G will be very interesting.
 
And Germany didn't have as much luck as usual. Go Ghana, go Serbia! ;)

Groups A and B are probably the strongest imo.

just a few headline for the match ;) a whipping for the yanks by the lions am afraid though we both should get out of that group.

England could meet Aussies or Germany in last 16 though *slight gulp* but really we are looking good to reach the last 8 at least.

Still, of the seeded sides I suppose Germany isn't one to avoid at all costs so it could have been worse.
 
Good group and I'm looking forward to playing the Americans. Don't think it will be an easy game, and first games always seem to end up being a bit odd, but I think we'll win.

btw, off topic but loving the Servalan av santalan! :lol:

Personally, I would have preferred a USA vs North Korea match, but this will do. ;)
 
Most people seem to think Barzil/Ivory Coast/Portugal/Noth Korea is the group of death but I just don't see it because Brazil are just too good tio be troubled though 2nd/3rd is up for grabs. Personally Group A could be tight but the Group of death IMO is Group D....

Germany/Aussies/Ghana/Serbia

If Serbia play as well as they did on Q/F then anyone of those 4 can make it to the knockout stages. My money is on Germany and Aussies though if Cahill is not fit then that would be a major boost to Ghana/Serbia.

Also England have invited Egypt to wembley in March for a friendly match.

Agreed. On paper - and in reality as well - we've ended up in the toughest group, and England in the softest. Good for them, I suppose. It'll be mildly interesting to see how the Kiwis go, too.

If anything happens to Cahill we're screwed, given he seems to be the only bloke we've got who's capable of regularly putting the ball in the net at international level.
 
I have a feeling Cote d'Ivoire is going to go through with Brazil.

I was arguing with my brother last night about how useless the current Nigerian squad is, he refused to believe that the 94 World Cup team was miles better than the current crap squad (with the exception of Odemwinge and possibly Obafemi Martins).
 
Saw this on another forum and thought be a nice addition tho this thread. Who would you pick for your dream World Cup 2010 team the rules are simple...

* You have to do 2 dream teams

* Team ONE can NOT have more than 1 player from any national team eg - if you pick henry you canot have anymore French players

* Team TWO can have as many as you want from any one nation

* Can only pick from the 32 national teams who are in the World Cup
