Fan Production Submissions (2)

jespah

Taller than a Hobbit
Rear Admiral
The purpose of this thread is to provide a place where people can submit the titles, descriptions and links for any fan production (filmed, animated or audio-only). Please included the production title, a short description and a link to the production's web site.

Please also add basic information about your production here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1I6yqUZQFPufiwnpDiPy1Z9xKKtJ2Tggw6No3S1RvMMc/edit#gid=0
This topic is for more detail than we could possibly show on the spreadsheet.

Should you want your production removed simply let us know here as well. And should anyone discover a non-working link, please post the information in this thread so we can update the master list appropriately.

Thanks for your help!

PS: this is a link to the older version of this list: https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/fan-production-submissions.38456/

I won't add this yet to the google docs as I don't know if this fan production is for real or just a fan trailer. Does anyone have any information on this film?

Oh jesus, I hate these pretentious "From Director NobodyYou'veEverHeardOf" trailers. Stop pretending you're Christopher Nolan. You’re not.

They have a facebook page but it’s so new there’s nothing on it. https://www.facebook.com/STSaratoga/

FYI, the Google sheet is for films that have been released, not for those announced, because there’s a hundred promised ones that never materialized.

The only Ben/Benjamin Schulz I could find on IMDB is an actor and an FX artist who each worked on z-grade low-budgets...

Here's one that slipped under my radar from autumn 2016. It's another one of the seemingly many crossover productions done at Starbase Studio, and Michael King from Valiant makes a cameo appearance. I just added this to the sheet. The story is about 44 minutes, and there are four minutes of credits at the end. Oh brother.

Star Trek Federation Files: His Name is Mudd (cc)

Harcort "Harry" Fenton Mudd joins the star ship U.S.S. Constitution and its crew with Captain Charles McCain. In typical Mudd fashion, nothing goes smoothly on this mission to rescue Mudd's son and friend who have been hijacked by a race who are not in the current Starfleet data base.

Ran across this one a couple hours ago. I have nothing to do with the production. I just thought it was too funny to not share.

Cute idea. But... Oh. My. God. Molasses. Slow. Even the slate guy takes 5x as long as he needs to.

I forgave them, for they are amateur actors. They aren't in it for the fame or the awards. *cough* Or the money. *cough* They're doing it for the fun of it. Isn't that what FAN FILMS are supposed to be about?

I said it was a cute idea. So fans make things, does that mean we can only lavish praise on them? I just found the pacing a chore.

I'm almost afraid to mention the harsh lighting just washed out all the boldness of the colours in the short...

This was flipping hilarious!

Watch it in full-screen. Stay for the clip after the credits roll.

Disclaimer: that popped up on my "recommended" list; I have nothing to do with the production of the film.

{Why do we call it a "film"??? Doesn't everyone use digital cameras now???}

Names stick around after the original reason for the name moves on. Like saying you taped a TV show, or that you listen to podcasts

Wow the VFX especially the virtual sets were pretty seamless in that!

So, this isn't a fanfilm per se, but it's a documentary about a Super 8 fanfilm project in the 70s that ended up going south. I've only had time to watch part of it, but it looks "fascinating".

May I bump this thread to point people to a few things they might've missed? And perhaps stimulate some conversation about them?

SPACE CHARTER
A while back @Korusan shared a work-in-progress TAS type sendup called Space Charter, and then the finished film. The full thread is here (link) and to jump to the post with the finished short click here (link).
FALLEN STAR EPISODE 4

This Trekian spoof deserves more attention from people here. The newest episode is in this thread (link) as are reels of VFX production and bloopers.
TEMPORAL ANOMALY

This fanfilm is about a a bunch of Federation starships from different eras being pulled together in one place, with only one crewmember mysteriously left on each ship. It was given the eye by CBS but the producer managed to work with them to get it released. As above, it wasn't my cup of Earl Grey, hot, but some of you might enjoy it. Both parts 1 and 2 are viewable in the thread (link).
