EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK AT BUCK ROGERS!

Very nice.

My roommate made an interesting point though. Did you guys shoot Gil and Erin's scenes separately? There's not a single shot in this scene with the two of them together and it's rather (painfully, I might add) obvious.

I noticed this too and I admit it kind of bugged me. We really needed a wide shot to visually cement the Roger's family together. It also bugged me that the most of Erin's scenes were shot with the camera looking down on her, which unintentionally created a subliminal notion of disrespect. I would have shot her from eye level or from the floor to help give her emotion more weight. But I am also from the Hitchcock School of Cinema where the camera, lighting and blocking, along with the actors, are used to create the mood and feeling of a scene. But at the same time I have to remind myself that the time to work those things out are not really possible on a shoe string budget.

But really that is my only real nit-pick with the scene. I can't wait to see more. I am very excited!

(And I would love to do this with Flash Gordon!)

We are looking into several distribution methods.

Well good luck to you. I've often admired your work-very professional and entertaining. I really enjoy and look forward to every production you have made. Thanks for keeping the original series alive.

Yeah, I saw that a couple of weeks ago on thesuperficial dot com in the MOVIES page. How will this affect this fan film project?

James' Buck Rogers isn't a fan production. :)

I have no inside knowledge, but I'd wager, since both are licensed projects, they could potentially be beneficial to each other.

So long as Anderson's version doesn't suck, then we shouldn't have a problem.

If he does another AvP, though, it might make getting a distributor for James' version a bit more dicey.

Without getting into the details of licensing agreements, I think you'll find that the movie--if it ever ends up happening--and our web series will be different animals--much like Brian Singer's Superman Returns movie is different in tone from the Smallville television series.

I'm just thinking in terms of a sucky movie poisoning the public perception well in the minds of those who might otherwise pick up the series. Smallville had the advantage of already being up and running and pretty well established, so SR wouldn't do much one way or another.

If the movie tanks, though, before a distribution deal could be made with, say, SyFy or CW or whoever, then the likelihood of getting reactions of "Buck Rogers? I don't think so. With that moving bombing, it's clear that the public just isn't interested in the character." Execs often times have a problem understanding that sometimes projects die because they're executed badly and not because the public doesn't like the concept.

In this case, the time it's gonna take before they even get into serious preproduction on the movie can work to your advantage. A chance to get the foot in the door before any kind of value judgment can be made one way or another on the big screen version.

Projects can complement each other. There was an Australian/Canadian/English TV show, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World, which went into reruns after a movie based on that same book was released. The reruns got higher ratings than the first run due to the publicity. Financial fighting prevented it from having another season, which was originally scheduled.

Excellent and I think it is so cool to see Gil and Erin. I had such a crush on her when the series ran.
