Enterprise Relaunch Novels = Amazing!

I really enjoyed them, even if you didn't like Enterprise, it would be a good idea to give these books that came after the show ended a whirl.

I like the ENT novels as well. Particularly The Good That Men Do, which gives "These Are The Voyages..." a whole new meaning.

Hell YES! :rommie:
I will forever have this as "canon" in my head.

The most current trio -Rise of the Federation series- are great too! I am anticipating Christopher's third book more than I'm anticipating the new Star Wars.

Yes, I said it.

I also share the same sentiment. The relaunch novels certainly have filled the ST:ENT void for me. Certainly I would have rather 3 more seasons been aired, however in their absence these have certainly been enjoyable substitutes.

I also agree with Willow on the canon thing - I tend to look at the novels as part of what might / would have been, so thinking of them as canon isn't a stretch by any means.

Each to their own, but I was not a fan of the ENT post-series novels. I can nitpick about continuity etc all I want, but the truth is they didn't engage me.

I haven't read the Romulan War novels, only the Rise Of The Federation series by Bennett, which are some of the finest examples of TrekLit.

I like that the books can get more in to characterization than what we got onscreen. There were a few I didn't care for (including a two parter called, ironically , Daedelus's Children- ironic because Daedeluswas one of my least liked eps)

The Good that Men Dowas one of my favorites. And the most recent works, by Bennett, are among my favorites.

I really like the Enterprise Relaunch novels The Good That men do is one of my favorite Enterprise books. I also like the Romulan war books .And The Rise of the Federation books too. I'm looking forward to getting Live by the code when it comes out next year.:techman:

What are the Novels. I'm currently reading the DS9 relaunch but I've heard many great things about the Enterprise books and I've come to really appreciate the series more, especially after my last rewatch earlier this year. It's now my third favorite series behind TNG and DS9.

I haven't read all of the Enterprise Relaunch novels but here are my thoughts on the one's I've read (or attempted to):

-Last Full Measure: I was really surprised by how much I liked this novel. I remember it being pretty good. If I recall it also had some good character moments for Mayweather.
-The Good that Men Do: I also liked this novel. I liked that they had the guts to overturn "These Are the Voyages" since I didn't like that series finale. In hindsight, it was probably a bit fannish to have Trip impersonate a Romulan and work for Section 31. As that storyline continued I thought it stretched credulity and felt like they were just shoehorning Trip in.
-Kobayashi Maru: I remember being stoked about this one because of the book jacket. I liked how they described the Romulan Empire as an isolated, rogue nation. But the novel itself didn't do much for me. I didn't care for how the war started.
-The Romulan War: Beneath the Raptor's Wing: I gave up on this one. It was boring. Didn't grab me despite the subject matter. I had really been looking forward into seeing the Romulan War. Oh well. I think it's probably something that should've been a four/five book series, with maybe multiple Trek authors anyway.
-A Choice of Futures: I enjoyed this one. I thought it was neat fleshing out the villains from the disposable episode "Bound" and making them even more credible threats. Using the "Silent Enemy" aliens was great as well. That was one of my favorite ENT episodes.
-Tower of Babel: I enjoyed the look at the Rigelians in this novel. It's great the format allows such exploration and also in keeping with the large cast for the novels.
-Uncertain Logic: I picked it up, but I need to give it another chance. Just haven't been into Trek novels lately.

I really liked that the novel Uncertain Logic being a sequel to the 3 part Vulcan arc from season 4 the book is full of unexpected suprizes. I rewatched the 3 part Vulcan arc before I read the book.:) It certainly helps when you read about events on Vulcan that happened during the tv series.

I have actually been trying to get my hands on those novels (Daedalus and Daedalus' Children) because I am a sucker for parallel-universe stories. And thankfully they don't have anything to do with the ENT episode "Daedalus", which I didn't care for either.

Oh, and in case anyone's wondering, there's another Rise of the Federation novel on the way. It's called Live By The Code. Just sayin'. ;)

Yep! In March I believe . I've been anticipating the third book since I finished the second one last spring! :)

And as for parallel universes, they are hit and miss for me. Same with time travel. Sometimes they just make my head hurt.

Daedalus and Daedalus' Children are my favourite ENT novels.

Actually,,I think I may have enjoyed these just slightly more than What Price Honor, which is strange since it is Reed-centric and I'm a big Reed fan. It is ironic though that all of my LEAST favorite stories were written by the same author.

:techman:The Daedalus Novels are okay ,but I liked the Enterprise novel Rosetta by Dave Stern Better. The whole crew got good story arcs in this book .It was nice to have Hoshi use her skills as a linguists. There is a real interesting mystery in this novel. Trip&Malcolm and Travis also have their own adventure in this book and they're all part of one big story in this book. I have to say that all the stories of the characters are woven together cleverly when it comes to solving more than one mystery . I'm looking forward to getting Live By the Code next year.

Live by the Code is actually the fourth book in the series, following A Choice of Futures, Tower of Babel, and Uncertain Logic. And yes, it's technically the April 2016 book, which means it should be out in mid- to late March.

Oops! Sorry, Christopher! I was on a relaunch reading binge and must have got confused as I was reading so many books! I'm really excited for Live By the Code. Thank you so much for your work on these books, and weaving together great stories. It is my favorite series of books. :techman:

Greetings! It's been a while since I've posted but it's great to be home!

One of the things I love about the "Kobayashi Maru" novel is the connection with "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn." When Saavik is taking her test, we hear the audio from the Kobayashi Maru being relayed to the Enterprise. What we find out in the novel is this was a recording from an actual event that involved Archer's Enterprise. So when they say, "Enterprise, can you help us?" it's actually the real captain from the real Kobayashi Maru pleading with Archer and his Enterprise. Totally cool!
