Enterprise Novels?

Hiya everyone,

You were all so kind and helpful with me before when I asked which books to start with. Now I'm two books down and I'm looking for another.
Are there any Enterprise novels out there? If so which should I start with?
Enterprise is in my top 3 favourite Star Trek series and I'm still upset we only got 4 series and with the final episode. I'm hoping there was something to follow on from that.

Thank you :biggrin::klingon:

Enterprise, good choice! The Enterprise novels are absolutely amazing. I'd recommend you go with publication order, skip Surak's Soul which was ok but not as good as the other novels. The highlieghts were definately Rosetta, the Daedalus duology, By the Book and What Price Honor?. Actually those are all Enterprise novels except the novelizations, the relaunch and Surak's Soul.

I'd recommend staying away from "What Price, Honor?" and "Last Full Measure", as the former is a complete mess and will leave you with a headache trying to figure out what is happening, while Full Measure is set right after "The Xindi-The Expanse", the last & first episodes of Seasons 2 & 3, but doesn't add anything to the Season's arc and is a waste of time. I found the whole Mayweather-MACO thing to be a snore-bore.

But some of the better books are "Broken Bow" (much better than what actually aired"), "Daedalus-Daedalus' Children" two-novel story that was way better than the Season 4 episode "Daedalus". "By The Book" was a decent kick-off to the novels. And "Rosetta" was a good novel that showed what was happening in the Prime universe while the TV show was showing us the Mirror Universe. But you should check out "The Good That Men Do" and the other novels that have come out over the past 10 years, as they re-write the final episode (that shall remain nameless) and expand on the events of "Demons-Terra Prime" right upto the formation of the UFP.

Just to be clear, though, the novels and the episode have nothing to do with each other besides both drawing on the Greek myth of Daedalus and Icarus as a metaphor for technological hubris.

I like the Enterprise novels Rosetta and By the book and The Good that men do and the rest of the Romulan war books and the Rise of the Federation novels by Christopher Bennett.

I love Last Full Measure. In fact, I recommend you start reading there and skip everything that came before (and Rosetta). LFM and the relaunch novels are great, but the others...meh. Forgettable at best.

I'd recommend starting with Rise of the Federation: A Choice of Futures by Christopher Bennett. I actually started with that book. It's set post-TV series, and after the Romulan War. But i wasn't lost at all. Mr. Bennett made it very easy to jump into, so long as you are familiar with the main TV characters. I'll be getting to book 2 of the series, as soon as I finish the Star Trek: Prey trilogy by John Jackson Miller.

What Price Honor? is the best Enterprise novel in my opinion-- a moody, character-driven piece, and probably the best Reed story there is.

The Daedalus duology is solid. By the Book, Rosetta, Surak's Soul, and Last Full Measure are all a bit meh.

The Good That Men Do convinced me to stop reading Enterprise novels.

I thought that the Good that Men Do was great, while I found the Daedalus duology and Rosetta both kind of blah. It's funny how the same books get such different responses from different people.
