DS9 Virtual Space Station CD-ROM

Did anyone get the old Region 2 box sets that included these? What exactly were they?

By the time I completed the set of DVDs, I could no longer use the virtual space station CD-ROMs because in order to load them for the first time, you had to register. It sent the registration data to a website that no longer exists, hence if you try to register now, it just hangs. I think it's quite sad I paid between £40 and £80 a season and one of the features can no longer be used because of the stupid registration system.

Agreed. Slightly O/T, but I refuse to buy anything that must be activated on the internet before it can be used/played. As with these DS9 CD-ROMs, they have been rendered totally useless thanks to the passage of time and the original sites going offline.

I remember these things, they promised a virtual station and I thought it meant it would be like a video game and you could walk around various locations such as ops and the promenade. In the end it was just an episode list.

I installed the region 4 (almost certainly the same as region 2's) set on my old laptop. They don't seem to work with Vista. The discs were ok but nothing special - essentially an encyclopaedic database on the show, they were produced without a huge display of love or even knowledge. You're not missing much
