Best cliffhanger ever! I can see why the last episode was the highest rated Who in history.

OMFGJTCOASM&J (Ask for translation).

I laughed, I cried, I called out, I was excited, I was shocked (even though I was already spoiled), it became a part of me.

Pity Skiffy had to go and give away the cliffhanger resolution (mostly). They should have just cut it at the TO (bang) Be (bang) Continued bit.

Even with Captain Jack I had to give this a Fantastic. Fanwankery (which I love) at it's best.

I really thought Rose was going to get killed as she and the Doctor ran to each other. I was surprised it was the Doctor. Probably the first time someone has been winged by a Dalek blaster?

We do get the conclusion next week right? We wont have to wait til March or whatever?

I was hoping they'd edit down that schlockfest of the Doctor an Rose running toward each other, but it doesn't look like they did.

One edit I hoped Sci Fi would make. *sigh*

On third viewing, I'm going to stand by my original Average rating. Take out Rose, and my rating still would go up.

That would have been a good edit.

As I said before, I didn't mind Rose except when she was whining about Martha and coming before and that scene. Edit those bits out and I would like "Stolen Earth" all the more.

I've not read the entire thread completely, but did anybody else catch the reference to the original series bible and The Five Doctors?

In the original series bible, the Doctor was said to be suffering from the aftereffects of a war. When they started regenerating the Doctor, he was said to relive his past, including the war.

In the Five Doctors, Flavia said, "Once again, it is my honor to inform you that the High Council has used its emergency powers to elect you as Lord President, effective immediately."

It was the Doctor that they decided to send to Skaro to stop the Daleks in the first place, an event RTD has intimated was the start of the Time War.

By the 7th Doctor's era, we were getting hints he was "more than a Time Lord."

Tonight, the Shadow Proclamation's leader said she was confiscating the TARDIS and going to war with the Doctor as their leader. He left them very like the way he left Flavia.

Put them all together, and that's a recipe for a theory that the Doctor's memories of why he left Gallifrey in the beginning aren't completely accurate - that he, in fact, led the Time Lords at some point in the past, perhaps in an earlier Time War - perhaps even a war with the Daleks. No matter how many times he tries to escape it, he can't. In whatever alternate versions of history he exists, he always has to fight the Time War with the Daleks.

Interesting theory, Peacemaker. I didn't know about the original series bible tidbit. Where did you get that from?

You know I read that this past week, but I didn't bookmark it. Can't remember where it was right now...TSE is about to do the 2nd showing now, then I'm off to the gym. I'll research it when I get back.

Really great episode! I loved seeing everyone return for the finale, and I was especially happy to see all of the remaining members of Torchwood return, I was disappointed when they were only briefly mentioned in the season 3 finale.

It was also very cool finally seeing the Shadow Proclamation, it was nothing like I imagined it but I really liked it (especially their asteroid base).

I'm glad they finally reunited Rose with the Doctor at the end, I was getting a little tired of the Rose trying to find the Doctor storyline that was going through the season (though I mostly got tired of it in this episode, enough is enough just get them back together).

Can't wait to see what happens in the next episode.

Re: the SciFi Spoiler heavy promo (and I hate to borrow a phrase but...)

WHAT? WHAT? WHAT?

God, I can't believe I have to wait another week! That was unbelievably cool and totally "fantastic." Who's going to live? Who's going to die? (and, please, nobody answer "yes") Just in-f**king-credible. The wife, the kids, the cats -- we were all on the edges of our seats.

And Tennant maybe be making a play for #1 Doctor in my book and I never thought anyone would dethrone Troughton.

As has been stated in multiple previous posts by other poster's this episode was a blast. This was the best cosmic ORGASMIC FANWANK episode that I have ever seen in all of Doctor Who history. I can not begin to discuss all of the high points of the episode - I want to watch the episode again and then discuss.... I do have to say that SCI FI definately gives to much away in the previews. I tried to change the channel but it was to late. I'll be back to write more later...

Wow, that was freakin INTENSE! I was getting a bit tired of all the alien invasions of Earth on this show before, but THIS one was just exceptionally done.

As far as stupid Scifi goes, my only problem is just that they don't even give you a CHANCE to change the channel or look away! Half a second after the episode ends, and they're showing a spoiler-heavy preview of the next episode! Aaargg!!

Band on the Run?

^^^And to think Davros would've gotten away with it if hadn't been for those nosey kids and that dumb dog. :guffaw:

I must admit I was never a huge fan of Doctor Who. I never hated it; in fact, as a kid I used to watch the old series when they aired on my public TV channel. And while I've watched some of the new series these past few years, I never really kept up with it.

But when I heard that last night's episode was going to have several of the Doctor's former companions--including Rose, my favorite (I have a thing for Billie)--I figured I'd watch it. I was already recording Stargate Atlantis, and I figured I'd have a little something extra to watch beforehand.

WOW! Good God, was that an amazing episode! Not only was it loads of fun seeing the Doctor team up with Jack and the others once more, but it was actually a very gripping story. I also loved how they kept Rose and the Doctor apart for the better part of the show. And, then, just when they're about to have that great reunion in the street...aarrgh!

This is the sort of crossover story that I always wish Star Trek: Next Gen and DS9 would do, but never did: having all the major characters from each series involved together in a crisis. Marvelous epsiode! I'm watching next week's for sure. And I think I'm going to be renting some Doctor Who episodes to play catch up now.
