Do you drive a cop-magnet?

I don't get many tickets, but I get pulled over all the time. I got pulled over the other day, and the cop informed me that my license plate number was not in the state computer. Huh? I've had the same plate for like, 8 years and it's been run at least 50 times. Turns out the tag agency accidentally screwed it up when I got it renewed in December. I thought it was bizarre that he singled me out of all the cars in rush hour traffic to run my plate.
Cops always stop and ask what I'm doing when I leave work late at night also. They run my license and waste about ten minutes of my time. This used to happen about every two weeks, but it hasn't happened for a couple months now. It's because I work in a richie suburb of oklahoma city called edmond, and the cops are bored and on a power trip. They're also cocky smartasses.

Back when I got my new Ram in 2006 (since gone back for an 09) I got pulled over almost daily by a small town cop on my way to class even going the speed limit. I was actually searched a few times (I was 20 at the time and I wear fairly expensive clothes so he assumed I was a drug dealer or something) and I had to report him to the state police board in Pennsylvania - the advantages of your family being close supporters of the local Representative. Knock on wood I haven't been stopped ever since.

I used to drive a 1996 Black WS.6 trans am, got her up to 180 once on a track, only pulled over once for doing 94 *was doing 120, thank you radar detector* in a 70 zone, now i drive a 2002 35th anniversary edition Camaro, no tickets, and i'm about to retire her for a Jeep to go off roading with

The Ford Taurus is scientifically proven to have no magnetic properties whatsoever, especially in the babe-magnet category. On the bright side, it actually repels other cars by their sheer disgust at the possibility of collision with it.

I kid my car because I love it so.

Mmmmmm...Camaro...

It is scientifically proven to require hoards of maintenance work, lol. Well atleast my 1986 one did.

They forgot one critical demographic: any vehicle with a bumper sticker reading "I GROK SPOCK". Automatic pullover.

I ran across this article today and thought it was worth sharing. It lists the cars most and least likely to get tickets by cops. Some of the cars are not surprising, for example high-performance luxury cars or cars targeted to young drivers on the most-ticketed and a minivan on the least-ticketed list. Some are more surprising, such as the Subaru Outback on the most-ticketed list. Here's the list, in case you don't want to go to the article:

10 Most Ticketed Cars
1. Hummer H2
2. Scion tC
3. Scion xB

The xB made the list? ! The xB shouldn't be in any top 10 list unless it's the top 10 ugly-ass car list.

Now, here's something I think is more interesting, and the reason I decided to post this: All but one on the most-ticketed list is a foreign car and all but two on the least-ticketed list are American cars. Is it because cops have some bias against drivers of foreign cars? Or does it say something about people who drive foreign cars versus those who prefer American cars? Or is it something else?

I am calling cop bias on this one. I don't think there is any correlation between nationality preference and how conservative the driver is.

worst car I had for tickets..

1984 US spec. Colt Turbo..had 'Turbo' stickers all over the car..and a sticker in the back window that stated "Don't Step On The Gas Unless You Mean It"..I got a ticket in the UK while driving it,105 MPH in a 70 zone (I was following a BMW at a distance and felt safe till the Royal Suffolk Constabulary Police Rover crawled up on my back bumper.) I got a ticket every 18 months I owned the car (I was in my 20s back then). The 2nd worse,a 1972 Datsun 510 coupe, with a 2 liter and a 5 speed in it. bright red, cornered like it was on rails, I miss those cars...

I drive a Silverado 1500. The Sierra 1500 and Silverado 2500 and 3500 make the "least ticketed list" though I don't understand why a 1500 would be any more likely. I have been pulled over in it once though....

I've gotten two tickets in the 20 years I've been driving. One was a couple of years after I got my license for going 60 in a 55 on my way to school in my parents' old Mercury Bobcat (Mercury version of the Pinto). It was the sport version, so it was a quicker version of a death trap. The other was in my Pontiac 6000 shortly after getting married. I got a ticket for an illegal right turn after I made a right turn from the straight-only lane at a stop light. I had been sitting there for a very long time and thought the light was broken or the sensor didn't know I was there. Unfortunately, I didn't see the cop sitting behind me because my mirror was broken. Oops.

Other than those two times, I've never been pulled over. I currently drive a 93 Honda Civic and a 05 Honda Odyssey. The Civic could be 11 on the list, but I'm not worried about the Odyssey.

:guffaw: !!!!! A "cop magnet"..I LOVE IT! !! No, my vehicle doesn't fall from either list..so I guess I'm safe as well?

I've heard and read that all or most red cars are "cop-magnets". Wonder if this is true or not?

In my country, the only real cop magnet brand is Ferrari. There is a joke here that if you want to speed on a motorway, all one has to do is wait for a Ferrari and then go with it. It doesn't matter if you are going faster then the Ferrari, the cops always pull them over.

We bought a black Chrysler 300C SRT8 425 hp in January two years ago, and my husband got a warning within the first week. He's had to watch it ever since, but hasn't gotten any more tickets. I tend to think the stop had more to do with my husband than the police.

^That's a sharp looking car  Too bad it's a bit on the heavy side and you can't turn the traction control all the way off, otherwise I'd definetly consider one.
