News Discovery Twitter & Social Media Thread

Is that the Shenzhou upside down or a new ship? Looks different to me. In the background we are seeing Discovery, I think. Definitely looks like the Shenzhou won't be destroyed or anything.

I'd say NOT the Shenzhou.

the nacelles and pylons are different; pylons significantly so without the bar-like section between them. Plus this one seems to have a bulk at the back of them.

Plus the saucer looks thicker, whereas Shenzhou has a more pointed edge and more pronounced struts on top (which also have more detail at the back - and big numbers on it's sides)

The Shenzhou and what looks like two other starfleet ships, maybe three.

There 4 different starfleet ships in the background in that scene, I don't think any are discovery though. They're also in the earlier scene when the klingons first fire on them.

Edit: Definitely one that looks like the miranda class, one with the nacelles above the saucer, one that might be the europa and on second thoughts I think the one in the distance is probably klingon.

I think many here would like to head over to Twitter, search #StarTrekDiscovery, sort by latest and have a read-through. Pretty interesting stuff being said immediately post-premiere.

@TrekCore
Quick non-spoilery thoughts on the #StarTrekDiscovery premiere.
.@actordougjones Saru is great. Lot more too him than just 'sensing death' seen in promos.
Burnham is truly the center of this series - and @SonequaMG has what it takes.
VFX work is really stunning. Everything in the trailers definitely in-progress versions of the effects.
Any worries about stilted dialogue in teasers can be forgotten; definitely affected by editing for ads.
If you liked the theme song, just wait until you see it paired with the opening credits sequence.
...and that's all we'll say until Sunday. Watch for our review on premiere night -- and our interviews with the cast coming this week!

Obligatory hyper-critical Trekkie chiming in about how with all these positive Twitter reviews, STD must really suck, in 3... 2... 1...

It's a head scratcher. Lol

These twitter reactions are why the red flag would have been no screening. Even with a review embargo people will give first impressions.
I believe the implication was that it was to prevent the leak of the shocking twists rather than fear of negative reactions.

Sounds like the show will be great!

Um, these two videos were available to fans yesterday (I know because I started a thread one one of them and a thread for the other was already up yesterday too.) ;)
