Discovery characters you predict will appear in Starfleet Academy

We've had a little scattered chatter about this already, but I thought it might warrant its own thread. Obviously, I'm coming at this with the assumption that SFA is a 32nd-century series, based on the wording of its announcement. If, for whatever reason, you're unconvinced of that fact, I guess... don't participate?

Anyway. Unless something's changed with Mary Wiseman's availability, it's quite likely that Tilly will be involved. Whether she's the lead, who's to say, but she'll presumably factor in a major fashion.

Beyond Tilly, I have a few guesses. Adira will be there - a recurring character. Gray may guest-star a couple of times by proxy. Kovich will also recur. David Cronenberg's own words: "I'm cheap and available." I could see them bringing Detmer in as an instructor, perhaps promoting her actress outright to main cast.

My wildcard here is Anthony Rapp sticking around as Stamets. If there's enough room in the budget to keep paying two Discovery leads, I think it'd be him. Stamets as an esteemed professor just feels right to me. Rapp could play the hell out of that role with ease. This invites the question, 'well, what about Hugh?' A guest appearance or two would be enough, I think, so long as the POV cast is generally the classmates.

I don't think the producers will be able to resist the urge to bring Sonequa in a couple of times throughout the show's tenure. I don't mean that in a bad way; I'd welcome a bit more Burnham. One more pop-up of Saru also seems apt.

I guess what I'm getting at is that just about everybody will show up at some point or another. And ultimately, that's what has me interested in this show at all despite not enjoying most teen-centric television, is that Discovery may be ending, but it's not ending as definitively as it otherwise would have. That's a big, big thing for me. If, somehow, this isn't in the 32nd century... lord, I'll have a tough time tuning in, personally.

Admiral Vance in the pilot as the send off.

Commander Tilly as the academic advisor to the core group of cadets.

Detmer will provide transportation one episode.

Depending on how long the show runs Burnham might guest lecture.

Riliak will give a speech.

Not the right showrunner, but they seem fairly sure!

I can see there being holograms of Pike, Una, Spock, L’Rell, Sarek, Amanda Grayson, Admiral Cornwell, Po, and the USS Enterprise (if counted as a character) to interact with. Possibly Captain Georgiou and Captain Anderson if cadets have to revisit the Battle of the Binary Stars.

Guest lecturers: Burnham, Stamets, Culber, Reno, Saru, T'Rina

Nhan recruiting for Federation Security.

Nilsson mentoring a cadet in regards to the spore drive.

Linus mentoring a cadet aiming for the science division.

Detmer and Owo mentoring cadets at flight school.

Maybe Gabrielle Burnham that hearkens back to her researcher days.

Anyone that has been in Disco could guest star, or even move over and star, I doubt the mains like Burnham, Saru would port over, but any of the others is possible, even a staring role. Have Reno as an engineer teacher? YES PLEASE!

What Species would you like to be the main characters in the show??
Tellerite (PLEASE!!)
Klingon
Feringi
Cardasion
Romulan/Vulcan hybrid

Agree with the Tellarites. I think they should be multispecies hybrids. A few examples of what’s possible:

Vulcan/Romulan/Deltan

Klingon/Betazoid/Trill

Orion/Andorian/Bajoran

Human/Cardassian/Bolian

Klingon/Romulan would be interesting.

For any human characters, I would be happy see people from countries that haven't been seen that much - like Australia, New Zealand, Sweden and Italy. There are many more. No offense to any Americans - no more Americans.

I mentioned who I thought would appear in another thread, but...

Tilly
Adira (as Junior Staff, not an Instructor)
Grey (either he enlists in the Academy or is just there via being Adira's partner)

I think Vance and Rillak will turn up. Though as guest-appearances, not as regulars.

Yeah, I know I'm a little late to the party making this thread, haha. I just figured the subject's worth having its own main location so it's easier for folks to congregate around the discussion.

Anyway, random thought - poor Callum Keith Rennie is joining the show for what has turned out to be its swan song. For all we know, his character is designed to be in just the one season of Trek, but if they were hoping to have him around for the rest of the show's run, it might be nice to give the guy a role in SFA!

The smart move, IMO, would be to use All is Possible as effectively a backdoor pilot and bring back the cadets from that episode, but that's probably not going to happen.

I can see Stamets, Tilly, and Culber in the Academy series. Maybe Adira and Grey, but they should want to spend time together. They set this series up for Tilly, but then reason why I say Stamets and Culber is because they are popular characters.

I concur. Stamets always seemed like an academic that was drafted by Lorca into Starfleet in order to develop the spore drive as a means to get home. (I haven't watched the relevant episodes in almost five years, but presumably he knew of the potential from Mirror Stamets.)

Lorca may have arranged to have Stamets aboard Disco, but Stamets was already serving in Starfleet before Lorca even switched universes.

ok, thanks for clearing that up. Might be time to rewatch some Disco after Picard ends.
