Desperate Housewives: 5 Years Later!

I call them like I see them. A flashforward used to setup a mystery WTF moment just like in LOST's season finale last year.

^And also in BSG's season 2 finale. Like Sharr Khan said, no one owns flash-forwards.

We'll have to agree to disagree. There's no doubt in my mind what they were going for there. I stand by my statement.

Can someone please explain themselves? I lost interest about three episodes into season 4. But still, I'm mildly curious.

Alias did the flash-forward thing, too. :p

I'm kind of intrigued by it--I don't think it hurts the show in any way, really. Not that much was changed--Lynette's kids are truants (is anyone really surprised? ), Bree and Orson are back together, Kathryn is part of the group. The only big shockers were that Gabby has adopted (?) kids and Susan is married to someone other than Mike.

Personally, I like that the season wrapped up neatly, and that Kathryn shot her evil ex (and that it was deemed self-defense! :D ). I liked the revelation about her daughter, too--did not predict that one!

One question--how did the real Dylan die? I mean, how would a little kid manage to flip her bed over on herself?

I generally liked the season finale...I had largely figured out the Katherine mystery a few weeks ago (the only missing piece was how Dylan #1 died), and I'm really glad Dana Delany appears to be sticking around. Also glad that little @#$% Kayla is gone, and hopefully we won't see much more of her. Overall season 4 was second only to the first season, and a huge step up from seasons 2 and 3...glad the show seems back on track.

As for the time jump....not really a fan. If it turns out to be a permanent thing, I won't like it. I'm hoping it was just a flash.

Was it the bed? I thought it was the closet were Kathryn put the teddy on which fell over when Dylan tried to reach the bear.

so Mike & Susan have broken up again, how convenient, now they can spend next season putting them back together again.

as to the jump in time its just a lazy way to make any changes you would like to make very quickly.

meanwhile you get to age kids to teenagers, and skip past the baby years of the Susan/Mike baby (UK pace)

not sure it works well for Julie, Danielle & Andrew however.

To renew interest in the series the last two minutes of the season finale jumped ahead 5 years, where I've read from some websites that it will stay in that time period for the remainder of the duration of the series.

At first it sounded crazy to me, and shark-ish. But after watching it, I was super pumped. Brilliant idea, I'm really looking forward to next season.

To the quote about ripping off Lost, I don't see how. Lost is set on an island among crash survivors. DH is set in suburbia. It's like saying Star Wars ripped off Star Trek because it's in space.

The two minutes of future Wisteria Lane:
Anyway, we find out Lynette's kids end up being delinquent car theives, Bree becomes a publisher (and forgives Orson, of course) with her son Andrew, Gabby produced two chubby little kids and really lets herself go (very comical, but I wonder what's up with Carlos... can he see again?) and Susan is perhaps the biggest surprise of all... kissing a man who is NOT...MIKE...

It wasn't a bed. Beds aren't made out of wood, normally ... It was that cubbard thingy upon which she'd put the toy. The real Dylan had tried to get it and the thing fell on her.

^Ah, gotcha, thanks guys. I was confused by that because I was doing something else at the same time I was watching the show and had missed Kathryn putting the toy up on the shelf. What a terrible way for her to lose her kid. :(
