Den of Geek - Best Star Trek Books Ever

As usual, most of the works cited are pre-2000, and the few listed that were published after the turn of the millennium stop at 2005. So literally NOTHING from the past 20 years of Star Trek literature. I wish I could say I was surprised, but that's pretty typical for lists like this one.

I presume the author hasn't read any other Star Trek books!

There are a few reasonable choices in there but Planet X and Homecoming!!!

The article introduction calls them good starting points, and that's really more of what the list is. I agree that it could use something more from the Litverse and from the streaming series. A Stitch in Time, Sarek, Taking Wing, and My Enemy, My Ally are all worthy inclusions from my perspective.

Greg Cox, if you read this, that is no shade on the Eugenics Wars books.

Any list like this that doesn't have Destiny or anything by Kirsten Beyer on it is just wrong. I've even given Destiny to two people who had never seen an episode of Star Trek and they both loved it.

Planet X and The Return are on the list because people are familiar with the X-Men and with William Shatner. They make decent stepping stones into the broader world of Star Trek books, especially because each author has written or co-written over 10 books for the franchise.
