Have never seen the episode "family" but what did she wear?

I'm a fan of cleavage, but I have to say I like the uniform the best, with the miniskirt uniform coming in second.![]()
The two in the middle of the pic are the best look. The grey being the best.

yes i agree completely. Thats an excellent point about the dress making her look taller. It was deffinately so much better than her regular uniform (which she also looked good in) but that dress is deffinately my personal favourite.I think the dress made her look taller. It was the length that did that, and the way it fitted.
She looked quite beautiful there too with the way the dress was and her hair. Better then her regular uniform
After some thinking, I've come to the decision that Troi's best outfit for me was that blue dress that she wore in Seasons 3 & 4.
I did like her other outfits including the regular Starfleet uniform she wore from the middle of Season 6 (Chain Of Command) until the finale too.
She looked her absolute best IMO at the start of the episode "Family". To me her look in that particular episode is her most iconic look.![]()
Let's face it, she should have been in uniform, but regardless, they put her in those dresses to show her physique.

Big hair like that in the pilot was pretty much the thing back in the late 1980s.I liked all her appearances except for the movie hairdo's. Did big hair go out of style?
If you mean the miniskirt uniform from the pilot, yeah i agree. Think the idea there was to try and provide a sense of continuity between TOS and TNG. I have to admit that I do like it as well. That first dress the very short blue and black one. Very TOS in its look

It's a weak link even if it's fun. I mean surely by that time period the TOS dresses wouldn't even be still in style.
I liked the green dress. First, she was just real pretty wearing it. Second, I preferred when she had like a quasi-starfleet/ill-defined role. I always assumed that she went through different training and was in a position that was starfleet but like a diplomatic core where the rules were more civilian. Like normally she would be a psychiatrist contracted with Starfleet but since it was a ship with families on a semi-diplomatic mission she was given a commission and assigned that duty. I don't know that I can back that up, but it just seemed to me when I first saw TNG she had separate training and background. She seemed like a talented diplomat and ships counselor. She was a good contrast to the more military minded Riker on Picard's other side. The uniform just made her another officer and made it seem strange to me that she was just sitting there chiming in but didn't really have something she was operating. I don't know, it just diminished her unique quality to me. That being said, just from a purely "wow she is pretty" perspective, she really looks cute in the uniform. Less cleavage but more, tight sweater look. And now that I've stated sufficiently sexist opinions...
