Dark Matter Season 3

This is a shame. I haven't watched the series but it is on my Netflix to watch list--now that I know it ends on a cliffhanger I will watch one of the many other shows I have on that list.

I watched the show from start to finish and more or less liked it, but I wouldn't say it was on the forefront of anything.

It was about the only SF show set (primarily) on a spaceship, at the time.

I'm hoping for a comic book, but with updated style, characters and plot so it can continue the TV series. The original comic used another visual style and partially different characters.

If some rights situation makes that impossible or if it doesn't happen for some other reason, Mallozzi will likely still release his game plan in some other form, possibly in episodic installments on his blog.

I wouldn't mind a novel, but he has already indicated he doesn't particularly like that idea.

It's dead Jim.

Maybe they will do a TV movie in the future to wrap it up.

With Discovery and Orville I am getting my needed dose (and then some) of Space shows for now

Very unlikely, the sets are being taken down and a TV movie is by far insufficient to wrap the series up. I'm confident Mallozzi will find a way to give closure, but not à la "Serenity".

I think movies to wrap up a series work very well. I was very satisfied with Serenity, the Farscape mini-series (which was basically a condensed season), and even Veronica Mars.

Mallozzi has written on his blog that he would have liked a miniseries to wrap things up (one of the interested parties he was in discussion with was looking into a deal to make this work), but that a movie like Serenity would be so truncated that it wouldn't be satisfying.

I think what most current US police departments need is more training in how not to use their firearms.
It's a complex issue and I think Society needs to evolve, most deaths are suicide on the note of murder there is more than one mass shooting for each day in America and unfortunately in some gun control areas where guns are next to impossible to buy criminals still have illegal guns, they use guns and they have very high murder/crime rates

Extremely interesting post by showcreator Joe Mallozzi, here: https://josephmallozzi.wordpress.co...2017-that-dark-matter-dark-timeline-revealed/

At the link above, he gives the ending to Dark Matter as it was originally envisioned (later changed as the series was actually being filmed).

This is in addition to an earlier follow up to the Q&A session: https://josephmallozzi.wordpress.com/2017/12/11/december-11-2017-dark-matter-secrets-revealed/

I just want to repeat my earlier comment - fuck you to syfy for cancelling Dark Matter.

A poster commenting on the originally intended series pointed out the Van Helsing has been renewed for another season despite having half the ratings of DM.

Which probably means it costs them half as much to make or to buy. It's not ratings as an absolute that matter, it's the ratio of ratings (and therefore advertising income) to the cost of producing and airing the show. The higher the expenses, the higher the ratings have to be to balance them out.

Damn, getting to read all of these unrealized plans for the show is just mean. I guess the fact that he is revealing all of this must mean that there is no hope for any kind of revival.

So the alien invasion would've led all the warring factions to unite against a common threat? That's just what I feared would happen, the invasion used as an easy excuse for ditching the conflicts rather than really resolving them.

It indeed seems very unlikely now there will be any kind of revival. The only thing he has held back so far is the ending of the series, as it was planned at the time of cancellation.
