To me Chuck E Cheese was a ball pit and arcade, not a restaurant.

Now it's all about the adventure parks, We have a place near us that has a giant trampoline and a rock-climbing wall, and they do sell pizza on the side.
My interest in Chuck E Cheese disappeared when I found places like Discovery Zone and Kids In Space, with bigger more elaborate play structures that fill entire two stories of rooms.
The Chuck E. Cheese closest to my house used to be a strip club!

I'm not sure most of us are actually that offended or even care. They didn't always work and were kinda creepy.

Well, if you want to go to Toys R 'Us, you'll have to go to Canada where they're still going strong.
Somewhat related, but my town had a strip club literally next door to a high-school which was a remnant from older zoning. Eventually another school, an amalgamation of three other schools into one was in the process of being built, which forced a rezoning of the area and the owners of the club were forced to close.

If you didn't care about games and ball pits, and wanted pizza that was actually good along with entertainment that was actually good and enjoyable both to kids and adults, the pizzerias with the big Rube Goldberg-ish mechanical pipe organs were the best. I think there are only a few of those left.
