News Chadwick Boseman has died of colon cancer

Rip good sir. You will be missed.

And as above. Colon cancer screenings don't start till age 50, but if your family has a history of cancer or any problems do get checked. Just have to ask.
Catch it early and you'll more likely to survive.

If any of you out there in Trek BBS land have ANY symptoms- get checked. Take it seriously. I had symptoms, got checked, and they got the polyps BEFORE they became cancerous. This kind of cancer is beatable.

I agree, because of covid19 my uncle is probably too late to be helped, he had cancer in his lungs and liver

Good advice. My mom had colon cancer young, and as a result, I started getting colonoscopies every five years when I was like 40. They've removed several benign polyps, which might or might not have become cancerous over time ... but now they'll never get the chance.

The dude is incredibly good looking, yet after the Black Panther movie, you'd think he would be with somebody, anybody.

Now I understand why he hasn't had much of a public Romantic relationship with anybody.

May he RiP!

To me, he will always define the role of T'Challa, I hope Disney doesn't recast that role and just deal with his passing off-screen and have somebody else take over the role of Black Panther.

Much as you won't like that, because of the success of Black Panther, the role might be recast with a new actor, because people (black people in particular) want to see more movies with his character, just like how it is with James Bond.

My tribute to him is this:

Signs and symptoms of colon cancer include:

  • A persistent change in your bowel habits, including diarrhea or constipation or a change in the consistency of your stool
  • Rectal bleeding or blood in your stool
  • Persistent abdominal discomfort, such as cramps, gas or pain
  • A feeling that your bowel doesn't empty completely
  • Weakness or fatigue
  • Unexplained weight loss

I was shocked when my mom told me about this while she was on Facebook. I'm kind of impressed he actually managed to keep it quit.
I can't help but wonder if he was sick while he was filming any of the Marvel movies.
His performances as Black Panther were great, and he will be missed. RIP.

I agree, given that at least two people (Shuri and Caspar Cole) have been Black Panther in the main comic 'verse who are consistent with the general character as depicted up until now, I don't see any real downside to recasting Black Panther while respecting Boseman's history as King T'Challa.

Truly shocking. I had no idea he even had cancer, and to see that he was diagnosed in 2016, damn. That means he was battling cancer while filming Black Panther as well as Avengers Infinity War and Endgame. Black Panther in particular though, an action movie where he was the lead character. To do that while dealing with cancer is nothing less than absolutely extraordinary. A true hero both on and off the screen.

A fun memory I've had of Chadwick Boseman comes from when Jimmy Kimmel had him on Mean Tweets. The Mean Tweet Chadwick Boseman read about himself was something along the lines of "Can someone explain to me how one of the coolest black guys on the planet has a horribly white-bread name like Chadwick?" After reading the tweet, Boseman responded by laughing a good hearty laugh.

RIP

The articles I read said he had been battling cancer for 4 years, so he likely would have known while filming Black Panther in 2017, and almost certainly would have known by Infinity War/Endgame.

I just learned about this from a random twitter post. Someone had put his picture up with a quote and a "Rest in Peace" and I couldn't quite understand (maybe I subconsciously didn't really want to understand), then it the reality struck me and all I could think was "Oh no...". That being said, I will always remember Boseman not just as a talented actor, but as a historical figure in the world of cinema who shattered the notion that a Big Budget Superhero couldn't be successful if the lead was anything but a what male.
