Cast Christopher Lee

Allyn Gibson

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Christopher Lee.

What science fiction and fantasy franchise of the past forty years has Lee not been a part of? Star Trek, The Lord of the Rings, Dracula, Frankenstein, Sherlock Holmes.

But not Star Trek.

Somehow, someway, Christopher Lee needs to be a part of Star Trek.

It doesn't have to be major. A cameo would suffice. Perhaps as the Romulan Emperor, giving orders to Eric Bana's character.

Star Trek needs Christopher Lee.

Let's not forget Space: 1999.

Anyway, I think there's a difference between casting Christopher Lee because he's just perfect for a role in your movie (Saruman in LOTR) and casting Christopher Lee... for the sake of having Christopher Lee! (Dooku in the SW PT). I'd like Lee in a Star Trek movie but strictly in the former category.

I think it would very cool to see Lee in Trek sometime. He'd make a great Vulcan too!

Don't forget he also had the honor of being a Bond villian; He was Scaramanga in 'The Man With The Golden Gun'.

I'm a huge fan of Chris Lee, and it is amazing how many classic genre films he has graced (hope he gets residuals). I never thought about it before!

I can see him as God. Yeah, as God. And he could live at the center of the Galaxy!
Whoa, that's a good idea!
Wait... uh...

Christopher Lee as an evil Vulcan or Romulan? Oh please make it so for the next movie! Any one of our talented photoshop manipulators want to try their hand at this, pretty please? :)

I disagree. I thought Lee was perfect for the role & added a much needed bit of class to the prequel WARS films.

No, let's. :p

From what I read, he basically set out to get a role in the LotR trilogy. I don't know if it was Saruman in particular, or how strongly he pursued it with Peter Jackson, but I did read that he was eager to have a role as he's a serious scholar of the works of Tolkien.

I wouldn't be at all averse to his being in the movie, no matter how large or small the role. I think he's a fantastic actor.

Not only was he a serious scholar of his work, Lee was one of the very few people who worked on the movies that got to meeting Tolkien while he was still alive.

He wasn't perfect for the role. The role was pretty much invented to accomodate him. I've read that Palpy was to have a second disciple inbetween Maul and Vader, but he wasn't going to be an elderly, Christopher Lee like figure until they got Christopher Lee and gave him a character whose name alludes to one of Lee's most famous roles.

In the end, yeah, that was pretty cool, gratuituous but cool.

As far as LOTR was concerned; Lee had long wanted to play Gandalf but felt he was now too old for the physical exertion required for the role; so he was given Saruman instead.
