News Carrie Fisher dies

An undeniably horrible year but also think of it this way: we were lucky enough to be alive when these amazing people like Prince, David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Carrie Fisher (just to name a few) were living and giving so much to the world. Out of any point in history we could have existed, it is this one. In no way should the flicker of sadness eclipse to the best moments of these icons. Sad to see them go, but they will never cease to make me laugh, sing, dance, cry or get out of bed in the morning.

Try 1977. Elvis, Chaplin, Freddie, Groucho, Zero, Rochester, Lombardo, Peter Finch, Joan Crawford, Bing the Beater....

This is an important point--some People magazine reporter said she's never seen a year of celebrity deaths like 2016, but all it takes is a casual look at years gone by, and many were filled with as many as 2016.

Of note:
An official from Lucasfilm confirmed to TMZ today that Fisher had no scenes left to film for Episode VIII.

Not directing this at you, Shawnster, but does it matter? Star Wars is merely entertainment and should be the last thing anyone thinks of regarding Fisher.

Another underrated favorite of mine was Under The Rainbow with Carrie. I didn't even realize it had finally come out on DVD.

Time to get that one and enjoy.

This reminds me of Michael Clarke Duncan's death. Sometimes a person has a heart attack so massive that they just can't recover from it. It's never a good sign when someone gets CPR as long as Carrie did.

This is just so sad.

This is one of my favourites. Really tugs at the heartstrings.

How sad "Princess Leia's Theme" sounds now!

I was 7 in 1977, and my friend Laura would come to school with her hair done up in "side buns" and we would pursue her around the playground every recess. It's hard to remember my pre-Star Wars life, but I remember enough to know what a difference it made. And Carrie Fisher was so great in it!

Whatever she did, she made it her own, and left so much wonderful material behind. But it's terribly sad to see her go.

Nothing was sacred to Carrie Fisher. I doubt if she could send messages back from beyond she'd feel offended by us thinking of Star Wars.

i am shocked and saddened to hear this news. Watching next year's Star Wars movie will be different for me now.

Star Wars is how many here and over the world got to know her. There was much more to her of course(She was an accomplished writer(i.e. Postcards from the Edge). But she brought a important character to the lives of us all. An important strong female character way back in the 1970s. Its only part of who she was but it was a bright part that people like to remember and in turn remember her and who she was in real life. Basically entertainment was her lifes work and what will last of her now that shes gone. So yeah it matters.

Her scenes with Dr. Evil in Austin Powers have always been the funniest of that particular film for me:

I remember seeing that as a kid thinking two things:

1. She's still hot

2. Why are they making prequels when she can clearly still have her play Princess Leia?

Now, she shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

Hopefully not like this (Rogue One spoiler):
