The long wait is over and Sam Wilson's first Captain America film is here! Will it live up to the set-up of Falcon and the Winter Soldier and perhaps just as importantly (but unfairly), will it be able to hit the standards of Captain America: The Winter Solider as this film is clearly striving to do?

I'm hoping to see it Friday evening or Saturday morning. I can't wait!

One of the RT reviews literally says this:

"It not only turns its hero into a Magical Negro. In an effort to soothe white America’s anger and hurt, it also asks its hero to grin and figuratively tap dance off screen."

Yeesh, THIS is from a Professional Critic? He's mad they didn't lean into the racial stuff deeper?

I would never read another review from that reviewer ever again.

RT... Russia Today? Somehow, I don't think they'd be posting a positive review of a Captain America film.

Yeah, at least some of their people do tend to be overly critical of a lot of stuff.

Rotten @ 52% with 111 reviews counted.

Looking like another Quantumania level flop incoming. North American box office will have to carry this over the line if it's got any chance of making it's money back.

It hasn't even come out yet, calm down.

Worse comes to worse,. it will make money but not be critically a hit. Heck, even the negative reviews are saying that they enjoyed Mackie and Ford and Lumby's characters and the acting. They just wished it was more ballsy with its politics

Reviews mean nothing when it comes to box office numbers, the Transformers movies were brutalized by the critics but none of them have made less than $440,000,000, and the two lowest rated movies made over $1,000,000,000.
The Transformers had some level of "failure armor" some MCU productions do not. Frankly, I'm only concerned with Cap4 being a great chapter in the Captain America end of Marvel. To that end it has at least two films to live up to and/or surpass in quality.

I have a feeling the Captain America name will be enough to get it at least a decent amount of money, even if it isn't a massive record breaking hit.
