Can I use my dishwasher as a clothes washer?

once, in college, I didn't have any laundry detergent, it was 3am and I had NO clothes to wear and the finals at 8am. I used shampoo. you have no idea how bad it got. the dorm monitor had to close the entire floor for half a day to clean that mess up.

everything has a purpose.

This is why I like campsuds. Works as handsoap, bodywash, shampoo, dish soap, laundry soap, salt water soap AND it's biodegradable so I can use it for zero impact camping.

The solution seems simple.

Wash my clothes with Cascade.

If it's good enough for my pots and pans why not my underwear?

Only if you want to be buying underwear about 3-4x as often as you do now.

Dishwashing detergents are far, far more caustic than laundry detergents.

Do not use Cascade to wash your BVDs.

Laundry detergent will sud. When that happens, the dishwasher pump will be unable to circulate the water/soap mixture. You'll have to wait for the suds to dissipate before draining.

Don't ask me how I know this.
The man is wise.

Also, it doesn't get it clean enough to live with. It seriously is like taking your clothes and just spraying them down with the hose on the sink.

IOW, as good for an 'emergency' as a quick spray of deodorant, but not good for normal use.

Another issue would be that there is no spin cycle. Your clothes would come out completely soaked and take forever to dry.
