Spoilers Book of Boba Fett [Spoiler Discussion]

A bit sad, in the books, Luke lead the Jedi to a new golden age of Jedi in a way.
The new canon version .. He ends up a failure. Hopefully they show him succeeding and enjoying life untill Ben turns.

Do hate the "must end in tragedy" thing going on lately.. No more walking into the sunset with Grace Kelly happily ever after.. Blah..

I liked that Cad Bane reminded us all that Boba Fett had worked for the Empire. That's definitely something that I hadn't thought about at all in this series. As a bounty hunter he has done some bad stuff. I'm guessing that will play more in season 2 with a few old friends looking for payback.

Does Cad Bane really have any room to talk? Wouldn't he work for whoever would pay him?

Next week will definitely have a showdown between Fett and Bane. They never had a chance to do that in the Clone Wars series because it was canceled. Now they get to do it in live action.
I'm 99% sure that duel did actually happen since 1) as of the Bad Batch, Bane has a metal plate in his head right where Boba's helmet has that dent, and 2) From his tone, Bane clearly REALLY doesn't like Fett these days . . .
Yeah, it's also possible the animation team just gave them corridor assets and just chose a symbol.
This is Filloni. Things like this don't sneak in my accident. On the other hand; this is Filloni. He knows his audience and is not above sneaking in very well hidden red herrings.

I'm personally convinced he does have plans for Barriss's story to be completed somewhere and somehow, otherwise he'd have made her an inquisitor in Rebels. Whether this is part of that story remains to be seen.
Now... Jedi and attachments.. Whole series called Rebels with Jedi With attachments.. Both Ezra an Kannan both loved the crew... Were a family.. Didn't hurt them..
Who both gave up those attachments to serve a greater good. Indeed, that was literally Kanan's last lesson to Ezra even as he sacrificed his own life. And if we still think Ezra's reunion will be an unequivocally happy one, then read on below . . .

In the books he basically evolved into an all powerful demigod. This is better.
It's no secret how much stock Lucas put into the works of Joseph Campbell regarding the monomyth, and part of that hero's journey is the end, which typically does so tragically following a redemption for a past failing. Gilgamesh, Odysseus, Beowulf. Mythology is full of such endings. Stories only end "happily ever after" if you never bother to check in on them after they ride off into the sunset. As Straczynski would occasionally put it "eventually, that horse is going to fall over and die."

Cad Bane worked directly with Sidious to kidnap children for experimentation and brain washing. His house has way too many glass for him to be throwing stones around! ;)

I'm pretty sure once he heard Fett was involved in this job, he tripled his rates.

Oh yeah, definitely. I'm not saying Cad Bane is any better but he is a good reminder of the kind of crap those guys got up to.

I can't wait for Cad Bane and Fennec Shand to see one another again. The last time they met (unless there's something in a book or graphic novel set closer to the time of The Mandalorian) was during the Omega incident in The Bad Batch.

You know the more I think about it, the more I feel like this isn't really a Boba Fett show, just as 'The Mandalorian' isn't really the Dyn and Grogu show. All of them together make up a sort of extended anthology show, not all that dissimilar to the Clone Wars format. We've just had the Boba Fett version of 'Witches of the Mist' these last four episodes, then we hand off for the Dyn and Grogu 'Brothers' duology before culminating in big 'Eminence'/'Lawless' finale.

Indeed at this rate I wouldn't be shocked if there's a scene in Kenobi with a young Cobb Vanth, and I wouldn't be mad about it.

Bounty Hunting is a small galaxy it seems; pretty much everyone in the life seems to know or at least know of everyone else of consequence.

While there's nothing else featuring those two besides 'The Bad Batch', it's been going on 30 years since they first met right after the Clone Wars, so a lot could have happened in that time. They could have run into each other any number of times since then, under any number of circumstances from enemies to allies and everything in-between.
One assumes if there's any interaction there, they'll play it safe to allow future storytellers some freedom.

Has there been any explanation yet as to why they decided to turn the series into The Mandalorian Season 2.5 two-thirds of they way through?

Just a guess, but maybe they didn't want the timelines of the new shows intersecting like they did in the Marvel shows and causing confusion. This way we know what happened with who and when. But yes, it's different. Never saw it done like this before.

Man, when Cad Bane first spoke I thought that was Vin Diesels voice. I was like "noooooooo!"

Not that I mind Vin, just not for SW.

I hope Grogu flips Luke the bird and takes both gifts. First the arnour is Grogu's. Din gave it to Grogu as a gift so Luke has no say in it. Luke can choose to give him the sabre or not.

My first thought was "Take both of them, Grogu!" There is definitely something to be said for melding Mandalorian and Jedi teachings.

That was amazing, and caught me completely off guard, nice to see Olyphant again (really did feel a bit like the final gunfight we saw in Justified) and I hope he isn't dead, it definitely seemed like a shoulder hit.

Then we get Grogu and Luke! And Mando and Ashoka! I too have never really watched Clone Wars or Rebels but might have to now.

Luke did seem a bit set in his ways, though at least he gave Grogu a choice, I half expected him to throw the gift in the lake!

I'm constantly amazed how much Pascal puts into his performance even though we can't see him (daft question but is it usually him in the suit?). I do wish he'd take his helmet off a bit more, but then I kinda wish Boba Fett would wear his more so swings and roundabouts.

It does seem a tad unfair on Morrison and Ming-Na Wen but I guess they knew what they were signing up to, to be honest I was never that enamoured of Boba Fett anyway so having Mando and Grogu involved has enhanced my viewing of this show (though it wasn't like I was hating it when it was just Fett and Shand, it just wasn't as enjoyable as the Mandalorian)

I'm not sure in what way that's supposed to mean anything to anybody?
It's a symbol from the temple that only popped up in this episode. It's not been explicitly said to be Barris's personal crest in the same way Yoda has one (and honestly it's a little weird to think *every* Padawan or even Knight has their own logo) but the diamond pattern has certainly led to a lot of people presuming that was the intent.

Of course it could just be a rank badge for Knights (I assume Barris was knighted by this point), or I guess an indicator that a certain chamber has been specifically optimised for Mirialans is another possibility?

The wider point of course is that things like this don't show up by accident. It's a deliberate inclusion and it's meaning is inferred rather than stated. Plus as I said above this is Filloni, so a deliberate misdirect is also a possibility.

So, if Grogu does decide on the armor then it's a pretty sure bet we will see him next week. Which means we are going to see Luke in his X-Wing dropping hm off and maybe assisting Boba. That's mad.

If Rian Johnson was directing, he would have.

What I would like to see is Grogu first pick up the armour and put it on. We see Luke disappointed. As Luke moves to pick up the sabre and put it away, Grogu uses the force and snatches it.

Ahsoka convinces Luke that it's OK.

Well it would be weird to have a show based mostly on Tatooine, featuring Tatooine's most famous son and NOT have him show up on Tatooine at any point. ;)

Somehow I'm picturing a shot for shot recreation of his RotJ entrance to Jabba's Palace . . . sans rancor pit.
