"Bewitched" Being Rebooted As Hourlong Show

They all, the fictional characters, deserve a shallow grave.
I remember that show and I remember being annoyed, even as a kid, with the lack of continuity with the original series, including Tabitha being close to ten years older than she should have been given her age when the original show was cancelled (a scant five years earlier).

The aging business was a major inconsistency of Bewitched, since its clear her parents, Aunts Clara and Hagatha all were older individuals and aging as the series progressed. Maurice and Endora even took shots at each other for being too old to do certain things / being stuck in their ways, etc. All that to say, Samantha not aging was simply a plot device in the neverending attempt to separate her from Darrin.
I always assumed they aged, just veeerrrry slowly. Though I also seem to recall an episode (which was kind of sweet) where Samantha turned herself old for a minute to reassure Darrin that she'd "age" with him out of love.

If I recall, you're right--they grow old at a slower pace (from "Samantha's Old Man", S7 / 1970), but it was an issue--typical of sitcoms--that began and ended in a single episode, despite the fact this "real" problem should've popped again...if the series had more than a another year left in it.

By the way, I'm pretty sure they'll at most produce a pilot that won't go anywhere.
The most recent news I found is October 2024 (all subsequent ones simply repeat it).

I think it's dead. You can't make the format work today without changing it fundamentally.

They were doing a darker version of it (more drama, less sitcom).
