Beware Darth Mickey

I kind of wish a company other than Disney had obtained Star Wars.

While they make a solid and very enjoyable product, so far it seems a little roo risk-averse.

Rogue one is going to be in a completely different style to any of the other movies. I think thats a p. big risk.

As opposed to just about anything Star Wars since the original?

They purposefully made something safe in TFA in an attempt to ease people back into the universe. I think now that that's out of the way we'll be seeing them do stuff that is different.
As for Rebels, they seem to be going for a lighter more family friendly feel than Rebels, so it makes sense that would be safe.
We're already getting Rogue One, which seems to be going for more of a gritty war/heist movie feel. That right there is already a big change from the other 6 main Star Wars Saga movies.

Rogue One might be a style different from any other Star Wars movie, but it's still the style of so many other films released these days (how many franchises/characters have gotten the gritty reboot?) so I wouldn't call it a risk myself. More like inevitable. I'm more looking forward to Ep. VIII.

Rogue One is suppose to be a war movie (World War II inspired probably)
Rebels is getting progressively darker as it goes along. Much like the Clone Wars did. It makes sense as they have to get us to the low point of the Galaxy...the completion of the Death Star and the disbanding of the Imperial Senate. The darkest hour for the Galaxy. The Emperor was in total control and their was no one to stop him. Rebels has to get to the point were the Rebel Alliance is formed, the lead up to Rogue One and probably kill off or turn their remaining Jedi characters. Or at keep them around until around the Battle of Hoth...because they are likely turned, dead, or have abandoned the Jedi Order (like Ahoska) to follow their own path, thus leaving Luke as the last Jedi by Endor.

What was it Vader said, "Do not be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The power to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force." This implies to me that the Emperor would survive and or total the fleet of ships...by himself.

Possibly..... I think the Force is a terrible story mechanic.

I do like this rather silly theory

The Dark Horse Comics version of the Emperor certainly could take out a fleet of ships by himself if he wanted. Force Storms are a nasty piece of Dark Side business.

Kind of suppose to feel like that. Space Fantasy setting and all that. The Force is just an science-like name for wizard's magic form a Arthurian Legend or some other such tale be it a Western or Eastern based mythology.

I don't really see how it implies that. I think Vader was just a little butthurt over Tarkin calling it the ultimate power in the universe, and correctly pointing out that a big ass gun isn't nearly as useful as a Sith/Jedi. The Death Star was a blunt instrument, I think it was more useful as a psychological weapon (for any systems that might step out of line) than anything else. But any task that requires less than the total destruction of a planet and the Death Star quickly becomes useless. If Palpatine could simply destroy a fleet with the Force I imagine he would have done so at Endor. It would have made a nice demonstration of the Dark Side for Luke to see and ensured that none of the Rebel fleet escaped to continue fighting, or move in close to the Imperial fleet to take the Death Star out of the game.
