Best Protein Powder?

I was wondering if any of you are knowledgable in this area. I was at the store and they had a bunch of different protein powders. I was looking for whey proteins and I noticed that "Body Fortress" was half the price of some of the others. Is this stuff as good as the others or do you get what you pay for? Anyone know some brands to try or to avoid?

You definitely get what you pay for with protein powders. Probably the most popular brand is ON (Optimum Nutrition) 100% Whey Protein. It's fast-absorbing and just gets the job done.

Body Fortress is the kind of shit you can get at Walmart. Don't waste your money.

Also, depending on your goals (I assume gaining muscle), it's a good idea to get a protein blend. ON's Pro Complex has whey, egg, and casein protein.

Whey is a fast-absorbing protein which is ideal immediately post-workout, but casein digests slower and is perfect right before bed because it will digest over the course of the whole night. I've had my best gains using a blended protein like this.

I knew a guy in college who was trying to get into those protein powder shakes. It gave him the worst gas in the world, and he still didn't bulk up.

We nicknamed him "Skidmark"

The powders have a lot of milk derivatives, he was probably lactose intolerant

Protein supplements are great as long as you remember that they're SUPPLEMENTS.

You should take them for extra protein. But your regular requirements should come from whole food.

And yes, a high-protein diet will give you pretty bad gas.

There's a new one called Nitro Core 24, with 10 different kinds of protein. Also Beverly International is generally considered the best brand of protein by pro bodybuilders.
