Audio of Chris Farley's Shrek uncovered

For those that aren't aware, Chris Farley was the original actor cast as Shrek back in the 90s, but died before he could finish recording all of his dialogue. This of course led to Mike Myers being cast to replace him.

Up until recently none of Farley's recorded dialogue has been made public, but now audio of a 5 minute scene featuring Farley and Eddie Murphy as Shrek and Donkey has surfaced. This was made before any significant CGI work began, so there's only storyboards to go with the audio.

If you're familiar with the movie, you may notice that the dialogue Farley recorded isn't quite the same as the final product (also, no Scottish accent). From what I've read there was a complete script rewrite after Myers came in to replace him. To me it doesn't sound like a "final" recording, but rather a placeholder or rehearsal or something.

Anyway, here it is, a glimpse at what might have been:

Yeah, would've been a lot different for sure. Better or not, we'll never know.

Mike Meyers had a thing for Scottish accents, doing 2 movies prior to Shrek with the accent.

Great discovery! I would like to read the script of the early Farley version of Shrek.
