I went on one of these at a friends for the first time at the weekend, and it blew me away that much I went out and purchased one with the VR Worlds package the very next day. I had no idea that the technology on these things were at this level, I was expecting a clunky, first generation type experience. The general immersion, graphics and sound quality make for an amazing experience that surpasses anything I've ever seen, and instantly makes my 'normal' PS4 titles seem like a playing a board game.
I can't wait to play more games on it, so I'm looking for anyones recommendations, tips and general chat about the system.
Yeah, the first time I played on PSVR, I didn't expect it to be quite that good. I did the underwater "experience" thing on one of the demo's and actually leaned over looking at one of the control panels in the cage and reached out to point at it, hitting the arm of my chair. LOL!
It's my preferred method of play now. Oh, I can still play non-VR games, but it's just not the same as "being there". The most impressive thing about VR, for me, isn't that you can look around you, that's cool. It's that everything is in it's proper scale. Skyrim is cool when you're walking on some path and walk under an archway or see a frost spider....it's another thing to walk under an archway and see a frost spider in VR because they are at the size they would actually be in real life. Living in Skyrim would be pretty horrifying, but you don't really get the full effect in non-VR.
Likewise, flying around the Enterprise D in the Bridge Crew menu is just awesome. For me, I pretty much play the original Enterprise exclusively, and switching to exterior cam, the Enterprise is fucking huge! And you can steer it in exterior cam!
Resident Evil....games don't often make me apprehensive to play them (only Alien for PS4), but I had to really work up the nerve to play Biohazard. Hell, at this point I've already played through about four or five times, got used to everything, and started a new game on "Madhouse" after not having played for a year and I'm apprehensive again. LOL!
All of the "must have" triple A games have been listed...recently I've been playing No Man's Sky again with the VR update, and it is, despite it being a little extra blurrier than the usual VR games, one of the most immersive ever. I think it's because the landscape of the planet I'm currently on is truer to life than say, the mountains and terrain of Skyrim. I've been to places like where I'm at in NMS. I don't often get dizzy in VR anymore, but barrel rolling my ship in an atmosphere gets me a bit.
I downloaded some free demo content last night of the PS Store, and found some great stuff. There's a game...I think it's a game...called Alumette which is almost like watching an old Rudolph cartoon, except you're in the environment and can lean in and around the characters as the story moves. The design and look of this game is delightful and brilliant and I may have to pick it up. Played the demo for Eve Valkyrie...and holy shit! Graphically superior to No Man's Sky, and being dropped in the middle of fleet of huge, industrial looking ships was just....amazing! Don't think it's anything more than combat, but damn it looks fantastic! Even more immersive than the Star Wars VR level with Battlefront, and that was amazing.
Really glad to hear the helmet will be compatible with PS5 because I wasn't thrilled with having to buy it all over again......because I would buy it all over again. VR is just a whole other level of game play.
