I'll be the trouble maker. I like the idea of A being the forerunner to the 1701-D's "all inside" engines.

I think "B" presents less visual clutter. By having those elements run transverse to the long nacelle, making them too prominent creates some tension that isn't necessarily a good thing IMO. So I'd stick with "B".

I prefer B. It just looks more elegant to me.

I'm going against convention! I vote for "A", but without the different colouring. Keep it the same blue colour as the rest of the... whatever it is, and I think you'll be best off.

I like "A" better, because of the color contrast, and the little grooves, which I think makes it look more interesting.

However, option "B" is pretty nifty too.

I like "A" better because it resembles real equipment, while "B" resembles a cover over the top of real equipment.

The real argument ought to be... do you have a legitimate reason to have a "conforming" cover over the coils? If they need to be inside, for protection, it seems to me that they'd actually be inside of the engine nacelle hull structure. And if there's a reason for them to be exposed, it only makes sense to have them actually BE exposed.

Now, maybe the "cover" here is serving some other function... maybe it's a micrometeoroid shield that has no actual structural "load-bearing" functionality, so it can be thinner. But once again, I find myself thinking "why have it be so close-fitting?"

So, from my standpoint, I want to know WHY each looks like it does, not just "which appearance is better."

Given my initial (and admittedly possibly incorrect) preconceptions, based upon the two views, "A" is much more believable to me.

    Decisions, decisions. This is tough.

A - shows that there are rows of coils inside the engine. It gives the surface texture and mass. It has a sort of "clockwork engine" feel to it. Like the greeblies are kind of like gears or cams that spin around the inside of the engine. (BTW: Anyone else ever notice the resemblance of various warp nacelles to surfboards or snowboards?)

B - gives the impression that the entire upper surface is a transparent canopy divided by the (Warp Emitter?) that runs down the middle. Like the entire structure will be lit up from underneath by the coils when the engines are on. An enormous carapace on top of the engine. (BTW: Anyone else ever notice the resemblance of various warp nacelles to beetles?)

    I like both... ;)

Great work Mr. Probert. I really like the way that the Ambassador is turning out. :)

My vote is for A. I really like the details added to the nacelle, more realism.

"B," acting as a cover piece for the coil section.

Definitely "B" for me. I very much prefer designs with smooth clean lines.
