Problem is that a date of 2270 for the ending of the 5 year mission is clearly given in Q2 (and I don’t see icheb making this sort of error in his essay).
YK 49.0 Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan - beginning near one of Kirk's birthdays, and 15 years after "Space Seed" in the first season -
Sorry, what's Q2? Does it use info outside "...according to TOS".Problem is that a date of 2270 for the ending of the 5 year mission is clearly given in Q2 (and I don’t see icheb making this sort of error in his essay).
What's your year zero, then, JB? I'm on your side about Stardates; we see 4.7 years in the three seasons. As for WNMHGB, is it part of the 5YM to fill in the missing 0.3 year, or did the Enterprise kill a few shakedown months prior to Mudd's Women, or was there a few more patrol months after All Our Yesterdays as the Enterprise heads back to Earth Spacedock, or a combination of the last two (my theory BTW.)?If we ignore some of the cartoon stardates then they can show us where in the five year mission the crew where! Everything beginning with 1 is the first year and 2 is the second and 3 is the third if you get me?
That means that technically that the series is actually three hundred years to the day ahead of the actual transmission date!

Seventh season Voyager episode. It establishes the end of Kirk’s five year mission.Sorry, what's Q2? Does it use info outside "...according to TOS".
The title of the thread is "An outline of Kirk's Career according to TOS [emphasis added]" so data points from other Trek productions would be apocryphal to this discussion, maybe?Seventh season Voyager episode. It establishes the end of Kirk’s five year mission.

Apologies, that wasn't meant to be anything other than a explanation of what Henoch was jokingly getting at. I am not entirely sure if there was seriousness behind the post, though.Ah. Well, then wouldn’t this exclude the movies as well?

I'm with you on it being his 50th birthday.I like the idea of TWOK being Kirk's 50th birthday, it makes sense for a big milestone to cause that sort of introspection. There's also a little bit of leeway with 15 years being rounded, but only if absolutely necessary. We can say the date on the bottle is a stardate if needed.
First, Stardate 1312.4 in United Earth standard where Jan 1 is the old X000.0, and only used for WNMHB, so, C. 1277.1 could be when Kirk took command of the Enterprise on April 10. Starfleet switches over the Federation Stardate system where May 11 is a new X000.0. Now since Earth was tracking its year by 1XXXX, so did the change to the Federation system start at 1XXXX, too? If reset at 0000.0, then the time between WNMHGB and Mudd's Women is 17 months. If this is undesirable to your timeline, then assume the Federation Stardate was running concurrently with the UE Stardate year, or in other words, when May 11 swings around, the clock is at 1000.0 This makes the time between episodes at 5 months which may be more palatable if we want to include WNMHGB as part of the 5YM. If the latter, then ~5.05 years pass during the show. But WNMHGB has a stardate, 1312.4 Henoch, plus it's obvious from watching the episode that the ship and crew haven't been together that long! Although Scotty does seem like a well seasoned veteran of space travel!

How was the surgery? I guess you survived it.United Earth Stardates are old, and possibly Federation Stardates are equally old, or they may be new. What's new is the Starfleet is moving from United Earth administration (i.e. UESPA) to Federation administration and thus, must start adopting the Federation Stardates. Hey, I'm just trying to work with what I'm given.![]()
Thanks for your concern. Survived the hip replacement, yes. But super painful; worse pain in my life and I've known pain. Ouch! I went to physical therapy yesterday (two days out of surgery) and its amazing what a little motion and ice does. Today, I noticed a sea change with a lot less pain, reduced swelling, increased mobility and better standing/walking mechanics (still with a walker). I'm now optimistic for a normal recovery. How was the surgery? I guess you survived it.
Well, Henoch, we could put you in an android body...Thanks for your concern. Survived the hip replacement, yes. But super painful; worse pain in my life and I've known pain. Ouch! P.S. In Star Trek , I expect much better arthritis treatments, and if needed, joint replacements. Didn't old man McCoy get new polymer knees in one of the Shatner books? Lucky dog.
Note that I only built one android body, and that was intended for Thalassa. I never intended to leave Spock's body, bad hip and all.Well, Henoch, we could put you in an android body...![]()
Thanks, buddy.Hope you make a fine recovery, Henoch!![]()
