The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse and follows a small group of survivors traveling across the United States in search of a new home away from the hordes of zombies. The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a police officer in the old world. As their situation grows more and more grim, the group's desperation to survive pushes them to do almost anything to stay alive.

The Walking Dead premieres on AMC on October 31, 2010.

Based on the comic book series, this show is about zombies. The first season will be 6 episodes long, but AMC might pick up another longer season two if it does well it the ratings. Looks very interesting.

Looks really, really, good. And the talent behind the camera is top notch. Along with Darabont there are writers from Sons of Anarchy, the Shield and even comic book creator Robert Kirkman.

I'd rather hope the show emulates the comic series far more, because the comics weren't about zombies but rather the horrors and depths of depravity to which the survivors will descend to keep living.

The review that I heard was that the first episode will be great, and the second just average. And apparently the southern accents are terrible.

I haven't read the novels, but I thought the first episode was pretty awesome. Very atmospheric and well-shot. I'll definitely be watching the rest. :techman:

The previews looked pretty good. I'm looking forward to this with fingers crossed.

BSG with zombies! :rommie:

Well that's fine by me. I can't see doing an ongoing series that focuses on zombies since they lack much in the way of depth or personality. Hmm. Maybe BSG would have been better if the Cylons were zombies?

Out of sheer ignorance, I didn't we think we got AMC in Canada. Just randomly while flipping through the channels not ten minutes ago, I discovered that not only is it available in Canada, I have it as part of my cable package! Goes to show how much I pay attention to TV! So I've been trying to avoid The Walking Dead all this time simply because I was so disappointed that I wouldn't be able to see it. But now...I can't wait till 10pm! This actually made what I thought was gonna' be a crappy Halloween (no plans for a multitude of reasons) into a good one!

Yay!

^ Unfortunately we don't have AMC HD as yet, at least not on Rogers (my parents have it on their Bell satellite system). Still, I'll be tuning in on regular AMC to check it out. Previews look great.

I enjoyed the hell out of this. The comic is one of my favorites, and this premiere didn't disappoint. I have high hopes for the rest of the season. :)
