After 15 years, I'm back! And I have so many questions! (and RIP to DEA)

AFAIK she just up and disappeared from the boards. This was something like 10-12 years ago. I believe some other posters tried tracking her down and didn't get anywhere.

Well, I can't find my banning thread. If anyone has a better way to search the announcement forum in the Wayback Machine then let me know. Christian had the forum to default to only showing like two days worth of threads, so I think a lot didn't get archived.

But you can enjoy this thread of Starman begging to be an admin!

I have no issues with reminiscing about the old days, but respectfully, it's probably for the best to just let old threads pertaining to admin or moderator actions, particular likely bitter ones revolving around your or other's permabans, lie dead. And also not to dredge up potentially embarrassing moments from the past for posters who may or may not still be here. I know Starman was joking around with that thread and doesn't mind it being resurrected, but just be mindful that others might not feel the same way, and some people might even have changed their user names to get a fresh start.

Sorry to be a stick in the mud, but I have to look out for what's in the best interests of all the posters here.

That's fine. But I feel like 20 years is enough time and water under the bridge that you'd be hard pressed to find people still upset by this. Like, there's probably a good slice of users here who weren't even alive when that thread was made.

No worries. It was mostly just a reminder to keep that in mind. I don't anticipate any issues. :)

So what’s you favourite recent Star Trek series @Parallaxis ?

Btw, feel free to visit the Red Shirt’s lounge if you would like to play some games. :D

Strange New Worlds but I'm only on episode 3. I skipped Picard completely and have no intention of ever watching it. I watched the first two seasons of Discovery, aka the world's ugliest ship with the dumbest FTL drive ever. I dug Season 2 with Pike, but I don't care enough about the rest of the characters to watch without him.

Since ppl have asked about missing members, the responses I enjoyed the most, for years were by Timo. Always cogent and well-thought.

Any idea what happened to him?

Perma banned by our Romulan Overlord a couple months ago.

When you come across his posts, his username is in strikeout. That means he is banned. His final post was in the TOS forum in December, flaming another member which resulted in a formal warning. I always thought his posts tended to reach rather odd and needlessly contrarian conclusions by jumping through hoops with a lot of verbose and convoluted leaps in logic. But I don't really like discussing other posters in the third person in this manner, so I'll just leave it at that.

I don't know what I said that got myself banned so many years ago. But I recently read a 15 year old thread on Trolkingdom where I said some absolute horrid things about Wordforge's Tamar. Things so bad that I'm surprised someone didn't come to my house to kick my teeth in. And I thought I was being funny as shit at the time. Now I'm embarrassed and sad that she passed away and I can never apologize.

Welcome back, Para! and sorry about the delayed reply. RL taking a massive toll nowadays and health deteriorating..
I was wondering if anybody remembers or knows what happened to the following people...
RobL (former mod)
Sardy
Christian (former owner)
Lisa (former admin)
MissManners
Captain Decker
WordInterrupted
Barcode
Neroon?
I heard Christian is gone now and someone else owns the site?
[...]
BTW, anyone know what happened to the following people...
Dennis Bailey
LizardLaugh
where'sSaavik
The Lone Ensign
RobL is back but keeps a very low profile
Christian hasn't posted here in about a decade. Last time I did a whois on the domain - admittedly several years ago - he was still listed as owner.
Lisa vanished around 2004. Rumours about her fate vary, I favour the one that says she had to be surgically removed from the keyboard.
Missmanners posts at TK and has recently moved into a mobile home. Seems money is rather short with her.
Lizardlaugh hasn't been seen since 2002, I think. I always liked the name.
I believe Saavik is still here, but I might be mistaken.
There is a thread at QSF that lists the name changes. If, however, a member re-registered under a different name, they are not listed.

Slipstream Underground is no more, but the Slipstream community is still strong. They formed a new board, called Ex-Isle. When EI's server became wobbly, the board moved to a different one.
You might remember me as Sirius from Slipstream. I also hosted SSU for a year under that name. Couldn't second your claim that back in 2002 ff you were a nuissance. To me you were always friendly and an interesting discussion partner.

What happened to Temis?
Temis the Vorta was last seen: May 2, 2013

so speaketh TrekBBS's database.

btw, I just did a whois on TrekBBS: the domain was renewed on March 30est 2023 and is still owned by someone in NL. This looks very much like Christian is still the owner. Details, however, are hidden according to European data protection laws.
