ADS DVDXpress DX2

Hey folks,

I have a question. I own an ADS DVDXpress DX2 video converter. It lets me transfer streaming video from my DVD/VCR/DVR/Camcorder so that I can save them to my PC and convert them to DVD or Windows Media. I love it and the quality is terrific, but I was wondering if it's possible to simply watch my VCR/DVR through the DX2 like I would if I had it attached to a television.

I have a video capture card, but it's awful and the quality is so poor it looks like every streaming video I try to watch is a snowstorm in the middle of a radioactive cloud of fog. The DX2 looks fantastic and the picture is clear as a bell. The downside is that unless I'm capturing something, I can't watch any VHS or DVR movies (I use my monitor as a TV also since I don't have a television). I'd like to just be able to pop in a video into the VCR and watch it on my monitor (I still have hundreds of VHS tapes). The video capture program that it uses (ADS CapWiz) is good, but there's no fullscreen and the picture is mighty small about postcard size on the screen).

Is there software that will let me do this?

Well, remember the resolution of VHS is like 320x240 or something like that. That's why the jump to DVD was so drastic for most of us. That's why you're only getting a small post-card sized picture on your monitor for VHS.

As for your first question, I'd just recommend reading the user's manual. But I highly doubt it.

Well, I read the user's manual, but it says nothing about fullscreen. That's a shame. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to real-time record it and then watch it. Thanks for the post though, Johnny Rico.
