Adam Savage's and the The Original Star Trek USS Enterprise Filming Model!

We're incredibly lucky that this is how the model has ended up, in such finely restored condition, and in a protective clear display case. Before it went to the Smithsonian, Gene Roddenberry asked for the model to be given to him outright, and Paramount declined. Roddenberry wanted to take it on the road and have it set up wherever he was doing a speech or a convention appearance. It would have been destroyed by that much travel and amateur handling.
 
Nice to see the Gray Lady getting a little 'touch up' work while she was off display due to the Museum Building renovation for the last few years. Looks like they are again going after the warp engine lighting effects and motors. The new pieces in the boxes looks more akin to how the original effect was done. It was heart warming to see Adam's almost child like exuberance looking at the model. You know he just wanted to touch and handle everything....
