A race between Parenthood, Modern Family, and Brothers & Sisters

If there was a race between Parenthood, Modern Family, and Brothers & Sisters for best family-centered series, which show would win?

I enjoy NBC's Parenthood. It's well-written and has a great cast. Sure, Lauren Graham and Erika Chistensen don't look like they could be sisters, but one just has to go with it.

ABC's Modern Family is full of weak men. It has a progressive agenda (see that poor little Asian baby who will go through life with no mother). Also, it stole the "mockumentary" style of The Office while failing to be half as funny.

Soooooo....it reflects the evolution of what constitutes the "modern family". Which is the title of the show. Good for them, then.

To answer the original question, MF is the only one I'm still watching. I enjoyed the pilot of Parenthood though, and hope it gets picked up for a second season and I'll catch up over the summer.

I've seen a few episodes of B&S but could never really get into it, even though I generally like the cast.

Parenthood bored me to tears in its first episode, Modern Family may have the same shtick of The Office but it's actually fun to watch.

I watched "Brothers & Sisters" pretty regularly for a couple of seasons, then lost interest. I watched "Parenthood" specifically for Lauren Graham, and while it was a decent show, I haven't cared enough to keep watching. Not even for Lauren. And I've never even paid attention to "Modern Family." So...uh... I suppose "Brothers & Sisters" wins.

I've pretty much lost interest in almost all of TV these days...so... maybe not the best judge for this.

I watch Brothers and Sisters and Modern Family. I tried Parenthood but it was boring.

It is hard to compare Brothers and Sisters and Modern Family because one is a drama and one is a comedy. I really enjoy both of them for different reasons. I guess Modern Family wins for me just because I prefer comedies.

I like Modern Family and Brothers & Sisters. I haven't been able to get interested in Parenthood.

Brothers and Sisters got so bad that I stopped watching. Parenthood is too new to really judge, and I've never watched Modern Family.

Does anyone like "The Middle" which is on ABC the same night as Modern Family? It's a fun family show and Patricia Heaton as Frankie Heck is nothing like Debra Barone. I like all the actors on that series, especially the boy who plays Brick.

Modern Family is pretty good, even though I chaffe a bit at the two gays. Homosexuality is being pushed upon the public, and frankly, I do not like gays and dont want to see two men "romantically involved". Puke. So far however, the gay affection is downgraded because of "family hour".

First of all, "The Office" didn't invent the mockumentary, not even on British television. Secondly, "poor little Asian baby etc etc"?

Oh those terrible gays and their agenda to turn us all queer. You really had to add "puke" to your commentary you.... Frankly, if you can't handle one out of every 50 shows on TV having a couple of gay characters.... yeah I don't think I'm going to say anything else, wrong forum. :vulcan:

Modern Family is frigging hilarious, I now have three sitcoms a week to watch for the first time in about 5 years.

For me, it's Modern Family, as it's first season has proved to be funny, witty, enjoyable television. I watched the first episode of Parenthood, and was bored out of my mind. Plus Brothers & Sisters is more a drama/soap opera that I just find boring. I have watched a few minutes of a few episodes, but I usually change the channel when the boredom sets in. So it's Modern Family as the winner!

Parenthood.

I occasionally watch Modern Family, but never find it that funny. Parenthood sometimes comes across as cliche (gotta hit every major source of family turmoil (here's a guess, the boy (not max) is going to be gay)) but it's still a solid drama.

so a comedy that isnt funny, or a drama that is sometimes cliched...

that sounds way harsher on Parenthood than it should. i enjoy the show, the acting is solid, the writing is good. it does make me think about my life and my future (do i really want to start a family soon. they seem like nothing but headaches.)

Modern Family, definitely.

And lmao at people who think having a gay couple on a show is pushing a gay agenda. I suppose the 99% of other couples on TV are pushing a hetero agenda? Please.

Modern Family... I guess.

I've watched a few episodes and it was pretty good, but not on my 'must see' list. I tried Parenthood, and the first half of the first episode was so boring I didn't bother with the rest. I've heard of Brothers and Sisters, that's about as far as that one goes.

I dislike that Parenthood show. Except for Lauren Graham and Craig T. Nelson all the other characters are annoying and need a punch in the face if you ask me.
