I try to spend no more than $25 on a pair of shoes.

I honestly could not care less about shoes.
Somewhere in England Holdfast is moaning in his sleep.

I think I broke out in hives at about the time he wrote that. :D

You all know I like my shoes.

The most expensive shoes I own are a pair of dark brown crocodile oxfords from Ermenegildo Zegna. The full retail price was well over $3000, probably closer to $3.5k-$4k. I didn't pay anywhere near that, mind you, but they were still fairly pricey. Exotic leathers always carry absurd upcharges though, so that's really excessive, even by my shoe shopping standards.

A well-constructed pair of leather shoes is moderately expensive though, especially if you want them to look pretty. I frequently get my expensive shoes through much less expensive channels thanks to flukes of geography and contacts, but in terms of full retail price $500-1000 is probably about right for many of my shoes.

I do love a shoe thread, but I don't think I can vote in this poll, and the reason is...define "dominant."

I wear pretty shoes to work most of the time - love those high-heeled pointy-toed pumps, love 'em, love 'em, love 'em. They are most definitely dressy.

But sometimes my job requires me to go out and visit farms (I work for a farm organization), and I'm not going to wear dressy shoes on a hog farm or in the middle of a bean field, of course. Because I do love pretty shoes but I'm not, you know, actually insane.

For livestock farms I in fact have two pairs of washable Keds sneakers, so I can throw them in the wash afterwards - partly because sometimes hogs don't smell very good and while the smell of silage doesn't bother me, it does seem to bother other people. But the other reason is that I don't want to accidentally carry disease to the next hog or dairy farm I visit. I mean, if we have an outbreak of pseudorabies or something here, I don't want to be the vector, you know? That would be bad.

In my off-time, I wear either dressy shoes or casual shoes, depending on what I'm doing. But away from work, casual is usually what I wear.

Just as you should always use the proper tool for a particular job, so you should always wear the proper shoes for a particular occasion. Life should have a lot of variety and so should one's shoe wardrobe. Or so it seems to me. And I have a pretty darn extensive wardrobe, I have to say.

Today's shoe selection is definitely dressy. I wouldn't be caught dead in a bean field in these, but if I did wear them in bean field, I'd probably end up with a broken ankle.

Probably my most expensive pair of shoes retailed for around $400 US - I didn't spend neeeeearly that much, though.

I usually buy a nice pair of dress shoes from DSW every school year. I drop between $60 and $125 on each pair. They're comfy and look nice, and I'm worth it.

There are good things and bad things about being a guy. The bad is that we can't wear these kinds of shoes; the good is we get to watch girls wearing them. :D

Aw. For a guy with a Mary Poppins avatar, you are quite the sweet talker...

Thanks... she taught me everything I know.

I now know that I should just click my fingers and expect the cleaning to be done by someone else; and never, ever, ever to laugh in open spaces.
