I wasn't going to say anything about the VAR thing (whinging about such things too often comes across as sour grapes, after all, and it isn't as though it'll change anything), but after the fiasco in the A-League final it became...err...difficult to take VAR seriously. I'm sure it'll go over really well if the World Cup final is decided by a contentious VAR decision, or a ludicrous A-League-style failure.

Meanwhile, I'm completely over the "Messi must prove himself by winning the World Cup" crap. The bloke has nothing whatever to prove to anyone. He doesn't have to match anything Narcisso does, either. There's something truly pathetic about that sort of rubbish.

Iceland were outstanding and didn't let Messi & co have their way and after the first result it wouldn't surprise me to see the Argies get dumped out of the group stage like in 2002. Peru were robbed by themselves because how the hell they didn't score to at least grab a point never mind all 3 of them. Nigeria up to their old tricks of being AWFUL at a World Cup.

Bad match from the Germans. They will have difficulties to reach the next round. Sweden will be strong and South Korea also sees its chance..... Mexico could be surprisingly good. The Germans will have trouble to overcome a strong defense, especially when they are behind..... They are lacking a penetrating power this year.

I have to agree.... Argentina had also a tied game, nothing spectacular so far. It is still group stage. It will be interesting to see the teams acting under pressure in the knockout round.....
Poor Switzerland - no chance against Neymar. I hope he stays in perfect health. His hairstyle was a bad choice IMO.

Switzerland played well and got a point when I wasn't expecting them to get even that much. Good for them.

Mexico looked great, particularly their counter-attack. I just hope they don't lose focus after such a huge win.

I liked two things about Mexico in their match with Germany. They were fearless and their midfield threaded the ball beautifully to their attackers when counter attacking. Some of the best diagonal passing that i have seen at this world cup so far.

They were also very very fast. the Mexicans could run with the ball better than the german machine.
