Listen, I like Matz but from what I've seen in limited innings, I don't get the hype. His fastball has limited movement, it's mostly flat. He has a good curve, when he can get it over and is mostly pedestrian with everything else.

And still the Mets will put out a better starting picture every game.

Very even series here I think. I'm going to pick the Royals in 6 or 7.

The Mets' pitching makes this a great series.

He's glorified in this city as the leader of this team, the face of the franchise, but the guy has an ego as big as the all outdoors, arguing every single strike call or other call against him.

The icing on the cake was the cross between him and Ryan Goins. Goins, the younger player, blamed himself for costing his team a game and looked to be on the verge of tears. Bautista, on the other hand, when asked about it, didn't take any kind of responsibility or be a "leader" and told the media to "go watch the video."

A baseball player can play with heart and be into the game, but, in my opinion, he also needs to be a professional, which Bautista is not. This is even more apparent with the additions of Donaldson and Martin this year. They didn't agree with every call, but at least they didn't pout like children if a call didn't go their way.

If Bautista was shipped out of town, I'd be in the minority saying good riddance.

He's just a tremendous ass and it comes through loud and clear. Respect to his ability to play the game but, damn dude, behave like a person. Plenty of shots of him "fake tossing" a caught ball into the stands then there's his arrogant bat-flip earlier. it didn't make him look cool, it made him look like an ass. A bully on the playground throwing it in your face he's better than all of you.

Guy just seems like an incredible jackass.

Even Fox's own satellite up-link from Kauffman didn't want to deal with Buck's nonsense. Seriously, I'm getting tired of hearing this guy salivating all over the Mets and their players. Seriously, shouldn't a sports announcer be at least a little bit non-biased and neutral? I mean, I take having some preferences and favorites, but you shouldn't completely ignore an entire team while you perform fellatio on your favorite team ever. Just glad Bumgarner isn't around. Oy.

Naturally, I'm biased but I'm going to say Royals in Game 7.

I see us winning this and when they do, I'd prefer it to be here because it'll energize this city to no limits. The energy at The K would be the stuff at legends, hell it was last year when we *lost* in Game 7. This city really, hugely, supports this team.

But, if they're destined to win and that win has to come on the road; that's fine. But winning here would just be awesome.

There's an argument to be made that Lawrie has the absolute worst makeup in the league. At least Joey Bats has the talent to back his mouthiness up.

Lawrie was made of glass, he was never healthy.

I wasn't a fan of Lawrie, but one thinks that if the veteran leadership was better when he was in town, he wouldn't have been such a trainwreck. The talent is there.

Buck is just sorta obnoxious, IMO. McCarver being gone helps, as he'd be actively wrong throughout the game, which got annoying.

In general, Fox for baseball is just terrible. At least we haven't seen Scooter the Baseball in a while...

Professional athletes are cocky dicks, sky blue, water wet, news at 11.

The only bat flips which are suspect are if it's early in the game (first 4-5 innings, maybe), or if it was not a home run, or if you are still losing the game.

Beyond that, flip away, every time.

Edit: Shit, last night, Hosmer should have rode that bat like a horse around the field, doing sound effects and all that shit.

Harold Reynolds is even better at delivering meaningless platitudes than Tim McCarver was. "That wasn't a good swing" is about the height of his analysis.

Buck sucks because, number one, he doesn't like baseball and doesn't enjoy calling it, number two, he has no idea how to shut the fuck up when big things happen, and number three, he barely understands the game and it shows when big plays happen.

His sperm donor, he is not.

Still can't believe they delayed the game because of a broadcast fubar...

Well, the replay booth relies on the TV feeds, as do the managers, so...

Listening to Buck is just uninteresting and boring, he doesn't really sound that into it at all. And when he is? He gushes all over one person, one team, or whatever. He's just kinda crummy.

Two things tonight kind of annoying during the game:

1. Buck and Reynolds were making banter about last night's feed loss and (seemingly jokingly) attributing it to retaliation from Rob Lowe and Fred Savage as some-form-of retaliation over their show being preempted for the World Series. (Or something along those lines, anyway.) I thought it was just lame banter/talk to fill the down time between pitches. Then between pitches we get a little video featuring Lowe and Savage reacting to Buck's claims. So it wasn't them bantering it was them setting-up the show's promo. Sigh.

2. During the Seventh Inning Stretch, rather than seeing the crowd and performer doing "God Bless America" we cut to a quick little, lame, animated sequence overlayed on a still of the field with Schroedinger playing his piano as the other Peanuts characters dance to "Take Me Out to the Ball Game."

Look, the Peanuts movie looks good, I like the peanuts characters and all but the animated segment was just sort of quick, lame and not particularly funny.

Listening to buck is just dull and he has no energy, some of the banter and "color" just isn't interesting either. Sort of dull. Let the feed drop again and get replaced by the international MLB feed.
