The network has entered into early development on its first sequel to its blockbuster fantasy drama: a live-action spinoff series centered on the fan-favorite character Jon Snow, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Kit Harington is attached to reprise the role should a series move forward.

It was Kit Harington’s idea

I’m not sure about this. Could go either way.

Yeah, I saw this news a week ago.

Of all of the potential spinoffs they could've done (most notably, anything with Arya), This is the one they're going with?!

Zzzzzzzzzzzz...

If they actually use the fact that he's a Targarayn in this, it might be good.
The Arya show has the perfect name if they were to do it. Westworld.

I am highly sceptical about this.

Also very cynical - Harington didn't really break out careerwise from GoT. He made a few movies and none of them were big successes, so it smells to me that someone is going back to his safe place ( even though he had to go to therapy post GoT because of GoT).

I also don't really know what story threads there is to do that GoT didn't already have. The Night King is dead, the big political intrigues are gone so what is there to do high up in the North?

I liked Jon Sow but he doesn't need a spinoff. Now Arya on the other hand!!!

We've got the Targaryen prequel and I would love to see a show about the War of Conquest. I also want to see a show about the War that saw the White Walkers originally created and defeated. That last one could easily be a limited series!

I'm not sure, after seeing how they write the show after they get away from the source material. I'm open to it but waiting to see word of mouth.

I was very disappointed when I realized House of the Dragon would only cover the Targaryen civil war. I thought we were getting more of a Fire & Blood thing which includes the War of Conquest. We've had the civil war story 3 times now in book form, and I'm a little sick of it to be honest. The original White Walker war is definitely the one I want to see the most.

Well, different writers and showrunners from Game of Thrones.
Altho according to GRRM the 'treatment' is being worked on jointly with GRRM and other writers/staff involvement. But it def sounds like Kit Harrington brought his own 'people/writers' with their idea and would ultimately be the ones in charge. Guessing GRRM and the others is more of a 'cover' for the idea and possibly to bring it in line with continuity for any other projects being planned post GoT

Welp. The Great War was supposed to be the war to end all wars. There's always something to fight over.

Sure but i have serious doubts about the capabilities of the writers to write at the same level of Martin (i.e. when he was still a writer and not some celebrity who's doing everything else but finishing his damn series). It was very evident how quick GoT fell apart when there was no official written material to adapt but just basic notes and ideas.

I hope i'm wrong, i really liked Harington in that role but at the moment i'm expecting an ok fantasy show with high budget at best and at worst something like GoT's season 8.

That might work for you. Doesn’t work for me. Only I can decide if I like something.

So do you watch all the 500 TV shows to come out every year and make an individual decision for each one?

Or do you find ways to filter them down to the things you're most likely to like, because your time is precious?

I'll get my hopes raised or lowered when there's a writing staff announced. It's obvious Benioff & Wise couldn't write original material and had trouble delegating.
