Thought I'd get the ball rolling on a Book 3 thread for news and eventual discussion. No airdate is set, but it's been suggested that the hiatus won't be as long as it was between Books 1 and 2. You can discuss Book 1 here and Book 2 here.

"The title of Book 3 is going to be called 'Change,'" DiMartino said. "It’s all about Korra dealing with the change of the world in this point in time. At the end of Book 2 she says it’s a new era. And it really is and we’re going to show how Harmonic Convergence and her battle with Unalaq and Vaatu kind of shifted the world a bit." - Source

Re: The Legend of Korra - Book Three: Change

I saw this announcement earlier today, too. I'm curious to see how all this plays out, and I hope that Books 3 and 4 have more of a connection to each other than Books 1 and 2 did.

I kind of hope that this new world order will require Korra and Team Avatar to do some more traveling. I'm a little bored with Republic City and the South Pole. I'd love to see how the spirits will impact the rest of the world. Let's visit Bah Sing Se! Let's go see the Fire Lord! (and make sure you bring Asami along so she has something to do!)

More about when this should air...

According to a recent post by "The Legend of Korra" co-creator Bryan Konietzko, their collaboration with Studio Mir has Book 3 on track to air much sooner than the 15-month hiatus before Book 2.

"P.S. I forgot to mention, we have seen the first four episodes of Take 1 animation from Studio Mir on Book 3. AWESOME STUFF! They continue to blow us away. The premiere date hasn't been pinned down, but we are on track to airing Book 3 with MUCH less of a wait than the unfortunate one there was before Book 2 aired. We are all incredibly excited for you all to see the new book."

I read some blurb that said that Lin Beifong will have a more prominent role in Book 3 and that we'll see more of the Earth Kingdom. Guess we'll see.

I'd also like to see the Fire Lord and an older Zuko. And now that the spirit world is open, Iroh can come back.

Nick, at least, seems to pay attention to the streaming.

Re: The Legend of Korra - Book Three: Change

They had a hit show on their hands and then made us wait like 18 months for a new season. They can't be surprised that the ratings have fallen.

Book One: Air drew an average of 4.3 million viewers per episode. This was the highest audience total for an animated series in the U.S. in 2012.[55] Book Two: Spirits premiered with 2.6 million viewers. The reduced number of broadcast viewers was thought to have been influenced by the long period between seasons, a change in time slot (Friday evening instead of Saturday morning), the increased availability of digital download services, and generally reduced ratings for the Nickelodeon channel.

I need to watch season 2, but I didn't feel it after the first two episodes. I feel that the show should have been a miniseries like it was planned but with 15 episodes so the end of season 1 could have been expanded more.

No matter what we are getting 26 episodes and will have about the same amount of episodes as Avatar. But they have introduced this new time / world and now have changed the world it seems. So let's get to exploring the world again!

I didn't either. Too slow and too political. Then the best two episodes of both series aired (episodes 7 and 8) and things kicked into high gear. The story fell into place and started making sense and a lot of interesting game-changing stuff happened. If you ask me, Book 2 had both the worst and best episodes of the Avatar universe. It really was a roller-coaster. High highs and low lows.

Zuko!

Anything else I was going to say has been instantly forgotten.

Re: The Legend of Korra: Book 3 Trailer

I saw Roku and his dragon, which I'm excited for. Always loved the episodes where he appeared.

Re: The Legend of Korra: Book 3 Trailer

Season One was excellent.

Season Two was an absolute improvement.

Can't wait for Season Three!

That looked amazing! Did I see Old-Katarra and Old-Zuko in action?!

Re: The Legend of Korra: Book 3 Trailer

Absolutely amazing music. I hope there are more soundtrack albums released.

Re: The Legend of Korra: Book 3 Trailer

It looks like the combustion girl, the magma guy, the waterbender who extends her? arms in water tentacles, and the guy with an incomplete left eyebrow are some kind of criminal gang.

I thought Book 3 would be mainly about spirit-human disputes in the wake of Book 2, but that doesn't look like it's going to be the case.

Re: The Legend of Korra: Book 3 Trailer

Yeah, there appears to be a lot of non-air nomad airbending going on. Is it possible they've come across descendants of some that escaped the Fire Nation attacks? Is it because the spirit gates are now open? Or are the Sky Bison just taking new students? :p

Unless I'm mistaken, it looks like there's a flashback in there somewhere featuring a young Lin Beifong and (I presume) Tenzin.
Also, looks like there's a metal bending nation now too. Or at least a city of metal benders judging by the architecture. Speaking of, I noticed Korra now has a reel of steel cable on her belt. I forget, did she learn metalbending already, or is that new?

Re: The Legend of Korra: Book 3 Trailer

I don't think we've seen her metalbend, but given her affluence for all other types of bending, it seems like something she would be able to pick up rather easily.
